Edwina was wrong to some degree on this occasion. My issue is that Mel is like a coiled spring all the time, she's just waiting for a reason to pounce, she's ridiculous!

Exactly. I did not know either woman before I watched this but I dislike women like mel and always have and noticed that very quickly about her. So funny that she is always pissed off about so called faults from others while the so called faults, like being bossy and being passive aggressive is what she does.
And she is such a control freak. I said from day 4 or so that she loves to be in control and apparently she is a very nervous cook. would love to see someone else take control.

Mel's sentiment was right, but she expressed herself very poorly, imo - I thought that was a horrible thing to say.
I liked Mel a lot to begin with, but I'm really not liking her at all now; I've got reasons for this - nothing to do with her being a "DS hate figure".
She was really trying to make the point that she was as strong as a man.
But her comment implying men were only needed for sex was dismissive and nasty, I thought.
I'm finding her really hypocritical and touchy, generally, and she seems to have a big problem with all of the older campmates.

Edwina seems to prefer the men, she never says anything against them yet she has a go at Kendra and Mel. Feminist my eye, I have gone off Edwina after tonight and Kendra has gone up in my estimation. Noone NEEDS a man, some women manage to get along with another woman as a partner. Edwina has gone back to how she was with the eggs saga, totally wrong.

There is a bristling hostility about her should anyone disagree with her, an underlying threat of a strop... I find her difficult to like as a result, even though there are some parts of her spirit to admire.

She sure is, she's hating it that there are older women in there that won't bow down to her opinion, she's waited her chance to snap at Vicky and Edwina whenever she can. Don't like her at all.
Its a total eye opener with Mel, from seeing her presenting you'd have never have thought she'd be such a bitchy mardy moo

I agree that women don't need a man but for her to say that men are only needed for sex is very insulting. Is Mel raising her two boys to believe that the only thing they will offer to a partner is sex? Seems a bit bizarre. If a man said women are only needed for sex there would be uproar on here and elsewhere.
She complains when anyone suggests to her what to do about dinner then does exactly the same to them when she isn't cooking but she just can't see what see is doing.
Mel moaned that when she offered her opinions re the cooking others were "pissy" yet she did exactly the same thing when Edwina and Vicky offered their opinions when Mel did the cooking! Honestly, the sheer hypocrisy of her knows no bounds
I liked Mel before this. She comes across now as a bitter, negative moaner. Something has happened in her recent past to make her like this I assume.
