But Jake calling Jimmy an effing prick doesn't cross a line? What's the agenda here?

Wasn't that banter? I thought jimmy liked banter

Exactly plus the fact he's only mainly known to football fans. He has been judged on his lack lustre performance all round.

Why is it banter from one and bullying from the other? I can't work it out

If you can't see the blatant imbalance in the argument, then that's your own problem.

Jimmy got what he deserved!
He was an irritating plonker and didn't really do anything in the trials
so he didn't pull his weight. No way a suitable winner of IAC.

Although he said he didn't mind being first out
his face said otherwise - he looked gutted.

Or why is it banter from Jimmy but unacceptable comments from Jake?

I personally don't think anyone was bullied. I think it was an exchange of so called banter that Jimmy took to an uncomfortable level and people didn't vote for him because of it.

I also think his humour was boring so he lost out on votes all ends.

Quite.

You wont win against the outraged crew, Rupert.
Sorry man.

I think it's pretty clear that it's a very different world now. There is no going back - time marches on.

He was a familiar figure to lower league football fans for years and gained a bit more notoriety later in his career as a bit of a joker, beloved by the Soccer AM crowd but he was hardly a renowned top level footballer, and was not known by 'all football fans' let alone most I'm A Celebrity viewers his level of fame was similar to Jakes, ie not very famous.

Anyway their relative level of fame is neither here nor there in this issue. The whole exchange came across very negatively, and made an immediate impact, the bookies sussed it out and his odds to win drifted. It got picked up in the papers, the "bully" word was used. He blew his chances, I don't think he would have gone quite so early without the immune twist though but he definitely lost his chance to win after that episode.

Lucky that Jimmy wasn't picked for lots of trials at the beginning of the series. The campmates wouldn't have got any food. He might have been worse than Kendra.

He's tweeted already, eating a fry up, thanking everyone for all the support.

Shame they only tweeted & didn't pick up their phones.....

Very true, I didn't say I agreed with it but I knew the second it hit the papers that would be it for Jimmy. You don't recover from that sort of bad press.

Play the 'bullying' card and this forum will always go into melt down. It's a shameful manipulation of a phenomenon when many poor kids are genuinely suffering from genuine instances of this foul behaviour. The term has been diluted and distorted so much it now is used by pampered little twits whenever their cushy life encounters someone who dares to question anything about them. And when it gets to be a group thing, then it reminds one of Macaulay's famous remark: 'We know no spectacle so ridiculous as the British public in one of its periodical fits of morality'.

Jake probably kept his mouth shut as he knew he'd be seen as victim. After all, this is the same guy who has entered two ITV reality shows in a month.

He knows exactly what he is doing.

No, I know.

The media are shameless in their pursuit of a story.

Could have something to do with Jimmy insisting on telling Jake that he thought he had no talent. How many people are nasty enough to tell people to their face what they think of them for no good reason?

Glad he's got his comeuppance. Maybe he'll think next time before trying to destroy someone with his sick 'banter.'
