I hope this is true then all devs will get s5-lte -a instead and it get some better dev support.

sadly I think the days are limited for sdcards.

For whatever reason google do not like sdcards and they phasing support for them out of android.

Some apps I use now say they cannot use sdcards from kitkat onwards and more restrictions in 5.0.

It's confirmed that Samsung are going to announce their flagships on 1st March.

They will officially reveal Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S Edge (aka Galaxy S6 Edge).

Quote:
“The latest pieces of evidence point that the Galaxy S6 will feature a 5" QHD Super AMOLED display and draw power from the Exynos 7420 chipset with octa-core CPU and 3GB of RAM. At the back, the flagship will feature a heart rate monitor and a 20MP snapper. Additionally, the phone will likely pack a metal frame.”

Possible pictures of the Edge variant?

Has anyone seen an edge in the flesh. I quite like the idea, but have never seen one in a shop.

All this sounds a good step in the right direction but I want them to give a similar overhaul to TouchWiz as well.

I have had all the galaxy's but if the S6 has a sealed battery, then I will be looking elsewhere for my next phone.

I always buy an extended battery for longer use.

Will the S6 still have that ugly user interface? I'm thinking whether to get the S6 or HTC M9

The leaked specs of the S6 are slightly better than the M9 if I remember correctly. But I am used to the HTC user interface which is clean and basic, and I just can't warm to the Samsung one which looks like it's designed for children in mind

I'm not exactly a fan of this trend of Smart phones having to push the resolution higher and higher and higher, COME ON, majority of computers don't even use monitors at this resolution, it's saved for Gaming Nuts who spend like £400+ on a GPU, what bloody good is it going to be on a phone? Should have limited them at 1080p, no real need to go higher at all, especially on a phone, it's just a dick waving competition now with no real benefit.

Also makes me laugh, like a super bajillion mega pixel camera, super HD video recording, ...yet still the same 2001 style shitty mono low bitrate mic which sounds terrible and annoying.

Unless the battery is a very long lasting one, I am not happy about not being able to remove the battery and have spares or an extended battery.

The rest sounds very good.

Just use a power pack. Way more flexible.

Suppose so.

If you use the correct ampage charger, your battery should last for at least the lifetime of the phone.

You get these people putting more powerful plugs into their chargers to get a faster charging rate, but killing their battery in the long run.

I have had all the galaxy phones except S5 and have always purchased a Mugen extended battery. I cannot praise them enough.

But ain't Mugen the 'Monster Cables' of battery technology ?

They charge a heck of a lot more than the big two Samsung 3rd party battery suppliers, Anker and ZeroLemon.

The 'Monster Cables' reference was because, from actual forum reviews, they used to fib quite a bit about their battery capacity.

I sense they have improved but many commercial reviews have a strange paid feel.

Still, it is better than buying a no name battery that lasts 10 seconds.I sense you do seem to get what you pay for with them these days.

I cannot say that I have had any problems with their batteries and they definitely last more than double the time of the originals in my opinion.

I did once buy a cheap extended battery for my S2, I think it was from eBay and whilst it was much better than the original it was nowhere as good as the Mugen equivalent.

Samsung may be going for a smaller capacity battery. The S5 has a 2800mAh battery and the S6 will allegedly have a smaller 2600mAh battery, same capacity as the S4. This may be due to the phone being smaller and on one hand and the phone being more energy efficient so make of it what you will.

Then stick the same battery as the s5 in there and give us more battery life. This phone is looking more style over substance, Samsung need to be very careful here I think.

All the new Samsung metal phones have smaller batteries. Madness.

Yes, you can so lots of great things to reduce power consumption, especially in standby but once you start using it heavily then most savings disappear.

And even if you could get more out of a battery, why not just keep a high capacity to actually boost battery life. It's not as if we're anywhere near having a phone that can last a full day (early until late) with a lot of usage.

Nobody cares that you can put a supercomputer in your pocket on extended power save mode, with low brightness, mobile data turned off etc, to last a week.

It's how it lasts with 4-5 hours of screen on time and using data, running games and playing video etc.

I hope Samsung still realise the customer base they have is still substantial based on the things Samsung remained faithful to. Start messing with that chasing mythical sales with 'style' phones will be a mistake.

While we may not like their new direction there will be plenty of people who like iPhone's may well like the new design and that is the target market they are trying to appeal to.

Personally I disagree with trying to copy some of the iPhones short comings but then again I'm not their target market now. Don't think it will go down well with the Android enthusiasts given the comments I've seen on other websites. But they seem willing to sacrifice them anyway.

My contract is up in May with early upgrade in March so I've considered the Note 4 or just hanging on to the S4.
