La cumparsita is one of my ALL time favorite AT song. Caroline has the BEST song this week.

So excited about pixie doing the cha cha . I can't wait !!! She'll have one of the BEST cha cha this show has ever seen imo.

Looking forward to Simon's AS as well. You can't go wrong with Michael Bubble

will be interesting to see Pixie's cha cha - I always find ballet trained dancers are not so good at this dance (bit of sweeping statement I know) so will be interesting to see what she does with it - think Simon's AS could be very good especially with that song

Absolutely- Pasha did a decent Strictly style AT with Chelsee- I have high hopes for his routine with Caroline.
I was just trying to point out that "the music alone will do all the work" does Caroline a diservice (?disservice ?sp).
I would not like people to think that she is not going to put a lot of work into the routine

The funny thing is that was proudly posted onto youtube by Kele Baker who "choreographed" it for them.

BIB - I don't think anyone has actually said that - Caroline will have to learn the techniques and practice the routine - and I'm sure she will. What I - and others have said - is that she has an advantage in getting probably the most AT appropriate music there is - which alone has given her an advantage over some of the other celebs this week alone.

I quoted bendymixer verbatim.

Good music does not make a good AT alone, but bad music can ruin it.

Our knowledge of the semi-final dances now looks like this:

Caroline & Pasha - Foxtrot or Viennese Waltz / Salsa
Frankie & Kevin - American Smooth or Argentine Tango / Rumba
Jake & Janette - Foxtrot or Viennese Waltz / Cha-Cha-Cha
Mark & Karen - Argentine Tango or Viennese Waltz / Rumba
Pixie & Trent - American Smooth or Argentine Tango / Salsa
Simon & Kristina - Foxtrot / Samba

That's interesting, so Simon would be the only one to miss a latin.

I'm betting if Mark somehow makes it through this week they give him the Argentine tango and the Viennese waltz next week and allow him to dodge the rumba.

Pasha will make the most of this.

He'll be well aware that Pixie and Frankie have yet to do an AT, and that the AT will force both girls to leave their Fluidity comfort zone. He'll be aiming to deliver the best AT in the history of the competition - challenging the other girls to match it if they can.

Fwiw - I'm highly dubious about the claims that the AT (or any other dance) is always choreographed by a specialist. I'd expect the pro to be in the driving seat every time, asking for as much or as little input from the available resources as he/she considers appropriate.

Unless the pro has learnt AT, they'd be pretty daft NOT to accept help from someone who has.
Pros will often neglect to mention that they had outside assistance

EDIT- why do have have 2 pinned threads on the same subject?

I am guessing you didn't see the week that Caroline and Pasha had disco music for their samba... or many other examples for all the couples, 50's music for Frankie and the Charleston etc... it has been a series of mixed fortunes for the music and some have made a better fist of it than others.

Regardless of music the good props cover technique and this has not been Janette's strength so far.....

Equally criminal was wasting her Rumba on an Aerosmith song

But Pasha managed to choreograph by some distance the best Paso of the series to a James Bond song

In the hope of preempting protests from followers of other celebs - a Paso is supposed to portray a tense duel between matador and bull. If the celeb spends almost all of the routine attached to the pro it's not really a Paso.

(Odd that I was so focused on Pasha I forgot who the other people involved were...)

I had to follow the YooToob link to find out what La Cumparsita sounded like, then I recognised it.One of those tunes I've heard so often in the background,I've never bothered to find out what it was called.
Hackneyed,clichéd.
Terrible choice.

It's a Charleston - big on personality, low on technique, with lots of lifts so Janette can go explore the ceiling some more. That's his whole niche isn't it?”

This music will definitely be good for Jake I feel. It will give him plenty of scope for using his acting skills here... it reminds me of those black and white comedy films so could be fantastic

I really think people put too much emphasis on the music that is played, is it really THAT important. I don't think I hardly pay attention to the music that is on, watching the link just now I was so fascinated by the dancing that the music is where it should be... just in the background.

Too many forum members concentrate on the music rather than the dancing - you should be able to watch the dance with the mute button pressed and still enjoy the dance, that's what it's about not the music. End of rant

I am not on about the song I am on about the tempo - a waltz cannot be danced to a jive rythm etc this track is just not the right tempo for a salsa so therefore hampers the ability to dance to it - suitable tempo enhances the dance and makes it easier all round
