Thank goodness for some traditional music, and provided she doesn't completely mess up Caroline should be fairly safe with that.

Mark has good music but as much as I love the Foxtrot it's often a forgettable dance, and Simon's got the wow-factor ballroom so Mark's will likely pale in comparison. I wouldn't be surprised if Simon gets 40 this week.

As to who'll join Mark in the bottom 2 - Jake has a decent chance of doing a memorable Charleston given it contains lifts, so it could be a dance-off week for Frankie, whose Latin has generally not been as strong as her ballroom, or Pixie, whose cha cha looked ok but again it's not always a memorable dance.

The really interesting situation would be if the dance-off is Frankie v Pixie...

I think that Pixie would win that one. I don't recall the judges ever doing anything other than praise her. Frankie gets the occasional criticism.

Too many forum members concentrate on the music rather than the dancing - you should be able to watch the dance with the mute button pressed and still enjoy the dance, that's what it's about not the music. End of rant ”

...and the only dramatic performances you watch are by Marcel Marceau?

You obviously have the year of the tone deaf Strictly producer Louise Rainbow. I think she agrees with you.

Actually think the music/dance combinations make for a pretty level playing field. Some will please Len but not so much the public and vice versa.

Whether it's important to you or any other viewer is completely irrelevant, but really by your own logic it should be important to you!

The music is important for the DANCERS - appropriate music makes dancing a good dance so much easier, and therefore makes it easier to create the dancing you say enthrals you.

You simply cannot separate the music from the dancing.

I can't imagine how Jake is going to dance a charleston to that music. It's going to be a slapstick comedy routine isn't it!

Frankie's music isn't really suitable either, not expecting it to be great.

Wouldn't be surprised to see either of them in the bottom 2.

Caroline has lucked out for sure.

In case it isn't obvious to some, the music is dubbed onto the VT clips.

Now I remember where I heard Frankie's and Kevin Salsa song ; It was from this jaw-dropping performance .......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5FejErRYNM ONE of the MOST amazing performances I have ever had the pleasure to watch......

I was already a fan of Anya back then but after seeing THAT, I was desperate to see her on Dancing with the Stars or Strictly; She is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!!

I'm not sure I'd class all four judges pointing out that Piixe hadn't grasped the technique demanded of a Rumba as praise.

It's interesting to note the relative scores awarded when one considers that Sunetra at least understood the Rumba and made a better fist of it than most celebs.

As for a dance-off between Pixie and Frankie - because the latter has never really been low enough on the leaderboard to put her at risk of a dance-off, we've no idea of the size of her public vote. If Frankie has a far higher vote I'd expect her to survive a dance-off against Pixie.

Hackneyed,clichéd.
Terrible choice.”

Agree, the most cliched, generic piece of Tango music there is.

The producers clearly have it in for Jake and Janette. Last week an AT to Zorba the Greek and this week a Charleston to demented Coco the clown fairground music. A more experienced dancer might be able to pull it off but Jake isn't an experienced dancer and something will go wrong and his timing will go off. There was talk of dressing him up as a clown earlier in the week but thankfully we now know this won't be happening but talk about a stitch-up.

He should have signed up to the tour

What style of music is

Kelly Rowland - Work (Freemasons Remix)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py_PavqqOao

Hip-Hop? Modern Generic Pop?

Precisely defines what I don't like in music so I know what to avoid. Oh any song that includes "baby" is excluded form my collection.

Apart from Mark's music and possibly Caroline's music the other choices were
How do you make a cha cha from love shack?
The Beeb's budget must be tiny for this show because when you skimp on the music in a dancing programme you are already producing codswallop before on step gas been danced.

The music was pretty poor tonight - Jake & Janette somehow managed to make theirs work (well done them for the performance and their choreographer for working a miracle) and Mark & Karen's suited their dance. Caroline & Pasha's had more drama than their dance, and the others just didn't work for me, with Frankie's salsa music being particularly unsuitable.

It made for a very flat quarter-final as a result.

Oh so cruel.

I like the Indian tabla music at the start. Then muted it. Great dance.

OK then. What would you call that kind of music?
