How did Roisin get a diamond for 50 quid? Was she even in London? Surreal.

I think that's open to interpretation. I assumed it was a few doors down the street ie another company. Others clearly think it meant a few doors down the corridor. Though even then would it be the same company? In London large offices are often shared. Do dealers work for themselves?
Mind you the disparity in opening price did make me wonder how specific the instructions were on diamond quality, which is far more what the price is based on than size.

I'm going to call fix on this one. I imagine that a diamond dealer's business is about as secure as you can get. There's no way in a month of Sundays could they of arranged to just rock up and get in. It would of taken at least several phone calls from the production company and may be a visit by them, before a dealer would allow several unknown people into his business. Otherwise they've just exposed a massive cap in their security.

Turning this on its head, I wonder if Roisin got a more realistic price for the diamond, whereas the other dealer knew Daniel was telling him a load of tripe and put the price up.

Given the size of the diamond, I doubt £50 was the usual price. It would be much higher.

Compare that diamond seller to the guy Daniel got and it looked ridiculously set up.

Looked very much to me that Alan Sugar definitely wanted that team to lose and for the other team to win.

I'd like to think the dealer that played hardball with Daniel was doing it because he was punishing them for trying to BS him with the "I'm getting married, just ignore Nick over there and all the cameras" shenanigans.

I don't think Daniel would have got a much better deal, but being upfront like Roisin may have made it a bit sweeter.

I think that the dealer immediately pegged Daniel as a blagger. Maybe it's just me, but that "I'm getting married" line sounded utterly unconvincing. Besides, why does a diamond merchant care why you want a diamond? He's not coming to the wedding is he?

I just think Daniel's a wide boy, and anyone can see it.

I agree . He comes across as a dodgy character, with loads of flannel in all his dealing . Maybe ok in a street market but looks totally unsuitable and untrustworthy in dealing with business people .

It kind of reminds me of what happened in series 1, when Saira and Raj managed to get a Freeview box for free because the guy in the store was Asian aswell and they managed to haggle with him because they all spoke eachother's language.

Whether it's a free Freeview box or a £50 diamond, as long as you don't do anything too ridiculous I don't think Sugar minds.

Huh? Roisin's managed to develop a rapport with the dealer, which obviously helped her to bargain it down to £50. Rapport is essential. Either you have it or you don't. No different from Daniel having a rapport with the meat seller, who sold him a whole kosher chicken for £4.

James and the others used charm during their selling pitches as well. Mark flattered and complimented some customers. Did you think he was trying to "seduce" those customers?

No, you don't have to. It's fairly easy to hide a drama or televised competition under a working title.

All you need to be clear on when obtaining permission:
a) who you're working/filming for, e.g. production company and/or broadcaster
b) the general purpose of filming
c) how many people (crew and talent) will be on the premises
d) how long the filming will last
and sometimes
e) who'll pay for the utility costs (electricity, water, etc) and other essential expenses in the duration of filming

Not really, she got lucky she had the dealer who started so low, while Daniel had another they priced it much higher. Rosion was extremely lucky she basically had a pervert who fancied her as a dealer. Like I said the other guy who Daniel had took no bull shit so I wanted to see her deal with him to see how well she would have done.

They can't have been reprimanded that badly because I don't remember the girls team using tactics like this and getting slammed for it.

I do remember in series 3 when candidates had to find any way to make money and the girls team sold kisses, which made some of them and Lord Sugar rather uncomfortable.
Not comparable to one woman trying to buy a diamond though.

Truth is Roisin didn't do anything unreasonable. It was the seller that started the flirting, Roisin just reacted to it to get the deal done.

That was probably the weirdest incident this series. Apart from all the questions about why Daniel is filming everything and being accompanied by several apparently pointless hangers-on, what possible advantage did he hope to get by coming up with this daft story? Expecting a diamond dealer to give you a discount because you're getting married is like expecting a tent dealer to give you a discount because you're going camping.
