If they had stuck together, I wonder what Sugar would have done ? As it was, they predictably fell apart and split once again making it easier for him to find a scapegoat.
I think he should have said it was unacceptable but congratulated them on their ingenuity, foregoing the fine and making them winners. After all, he must have known from the feedback that they had been the much better team.

Well, one of the criteria was that it had to be at least 150cm in height and what they presented certainly wasn't 150cm in height, so from that alone, it was right to be discounted. If they had assembled it, then they may have had a case.

The instructions should have specified it had to be assembled.

Good point. It wasn't the correct height OR anatomically correct. (edit- in the state in which it was presented)
It's almost an insult that they expected Lord Sugar to spend several hours assembling it himself. At the very least it smacks of "will this do?"

I disagree- if I ordered a takeaway pizza and fires, and the delivery guy turns up with a frozen pizza and a bag of oven chips, it's my fault because I should have specified that I wanted them cooked?

How would they be fined less? They were fined the list price for the skeleton, which would have happened even if they hadn't brought it?

But that's completely different - you order a take away you expect it to be cooked that is the industry standard if you like it is an assumed specification in the same way whilst we don't a bill of right in the UK there are a set of implied rights that we all have and take advantage of everyday. Your trying to compare things that cannot be compared together. It is like taking your takeaway example and comparing it to the bed example - it make no sense because they are in no way comparable. The bed and the skeletons are in this case, for arguments sake, flat packs. The fact that they are flat packs does not negate that they are still a bed or in this case a skeleton. Or lets try a different approach lets say that it asked for a bed and that was all that was given and one team got a cheap bunk bed and the other team got a more expensive luxury double bed because the specification required a bed both would be valid. And in fact with the skeletons once the paper version was put together it could function in exactly the same way as the plastic one it just would be stuck to a wall rather than to a pole. At the end of the day the specifications stated were met and therefore they should not have been penalised.

My first take on Daniel and Felipe when they bought this was OMG! LS wont accept that it isn't the right thing.
Now thinking about it I have to wonder whether Felipe got fired more for LS's dislike of lawyers than for getting it wrong as the description really doesn't back up LS's claim that they did.

Felipe basically got fired for outsmarting Lord Sugar or at least whoever wrote the list descriptions. They completely met the criteria, Lord Sugar just arbitrarily decided to make them lose with that plus the rope being too long.
I thought it was a pity the team didn't stick together more, since they were robbed after arguably the best ever performance by a team on this task.

Didn't you get the they all hate each other memo? The tension between Daniel in particular with the rest of the team is the most obvious but reading between the lines Mark and Katie have what might best be described as an uneasy alliance against the common foe of Daniel.
