Ola Jordan plans to quit Strictly Come Dancing in order to join Channel 4 show The Jump.

The Strictly pro has apparently signed up a deal to appear on the Splash-like reality series in the new year, alongside husband and former CBB housemate James Jordan.

The Sun newspaper reports that a spot on The Jump is just the start of a two-year deal between the Jordans and Channel 4 which will see them ultimately with their own show.

“Ola’s become disillusioned with working for the BBC and she and James want to do their own thing,” a source told the newspaper. “Channel Four are offering them a really good package.”

They explained the long-term plan: “She’s going to do the Jump at the start of next year and they are lining up a dance reality show for them to star in.

“They feel they will get far more creative control than they had at the Beeb — and they are definitely going to earn a hell of a lot more cash.”

The insider claimed that Ola’s exit will be a “huge blow” to Strictly.

“She has been there since 2006 and won the whole thing with Chris Hollins in 2009, so she will be a big loss,” they said.

Good if true, the sooner the Jordans have no more to do with Strictly the better

I don't think its a blow to the show, Strictly will be fine. I like James and Ola so I,m looking forward to seeing them in different shows.

No individual dancer can make or break Strictly, and James has certainly been no great loss this year. I've much preferred watching Trent and Tristan.

I don't think it's a surprise - the moment James was sacked Ola's days were numbered.

Me too .. I watched the last series but can't abide James.

When will everyone stop talking about Ola "quitting?"
All the celebrities and the judges are on a year by year contract which finishes with the final.
If the BBC wished they could bring in a completely new cast every year!

She'll be no loss at all. Disappointed in Channel 4 hiring this desperate pair though, Definitely shows to avoid!

With Channel 4's record, the mind boggles at how they will make the show different. Presumably they will want to shock as usual with Channel 4.

Will believe it when I see it.

Doubt this story is completlely true, maybe separate conversations glued together to try and make one story. The fact they've written about her 'quitting'...(which Ola couldn't do since she's already left the show naturally via elimination, and can't quit before she's re-contracted back into next series's fold) shows that papers don't often write the clear truth or even know if what they're writing is the truth if they can't even get details like that correct.

Edit, actually I suppose as the series is still going she could yet quit this series (as eliminated Pros still do dancing and iTT appearances), but as she's still done a Pro number post elimination and her Twitter says she's also in Pro rehearsal for this week, she clearly hasn't quit thus far.

It's lazy journalism. In fact, it's not even journalism. It's gossip extrapolated into invented fact dressed up to look like truth and it is one of the main reasons I don't read red tops or 'media' magazines.

1. I'm not interested in rumour or gossip.
2. I refuse to pander to these publications' coffers as I heartily disapprove of their existence.

Will we now not have to have ay input at all from James?

If so the yipeeeee!

If she goes SCD will be fine. I still haven't forgiven her for Chris Hollins

I think it's sad that two people who had a career based upon talent would trade that in for a career based upon being controversial and divisive personalities and appearing in the sidebar of shame. Going from reality show to reality show would be a step down for the Jordans.

I remember at the time he said it everyone in the thread could get no higher than that. Still it's not winning the main show 4 times or even winning any spin offs 4 times....

I dIdn't even know what The Jump was so I looked it up and it seems Mike Tindall is in it this year. Hope he beats James if they are in it then.

i can't imagine watching anything just because it has those two in it. if it was a dance show, i might have a look, but i can't picture what that would look like if not a cheap rip off / spin off of strictly.
