Wonder what she will do next to torment him. I know they have history, but would the Doctor ever think about killing her once and for all ?. How many innocent people is she going to torture and murder just for the hell of it ?. After killing Osgood she even said "Do you have any more friends I can play with ?". People are just toys to her. Plus if Clara is still around she will be ticked off. Doctor tricked her into thinking he had killed Missy. How betrayed will she feel if she finds out Missy is still alive ?. Baddies always come back. That's why we need the Doctor to keep fighting them.
I like Missy - I'm looking forward to her returning. By the way Sara: I enjoy reading your posts

Good one off character but move on, fresh ideas next season please.
I'd bring her back for either a mid-series episode or Christmas 2015 (which could be Moffat's last outing). |

Er, no, it wasn't.
She's the Master, she's the Doctors nemesis. Her/his story has been ongoing since 1971. Would you have said that the Master's story was over by the end of Terror Of The Autons? As long as there are interesting and original ways that this duel can be portrayed then the story of the Master and the Doctor is never over. All I mean is that for a show with as limitless possibility as Doctor Who we shouldn't have to be churning out the same villains year on year, particularly consecutive years. Imagine if the Dalek Emperor had been the main bad guy at the end of Series 2, or Davros at the end of Series 5. It's stale, and it's repetitive a concept...no matter how good the story itself is. I'm not saying remotely that Missy shouldn't come back, and I loved the character (the actress was a superb choice as well). But I want Capaldi to face more major threats than just the one. In my opinion, I'd prefer to see the character rested and then resurface in a couple of years. In the mean time, give us something wholly different for Series 9 rather than falling into the trap of using the same characters over and over. Do we not remember how tiresome the constant appearances from the Daleks became just a few years ago - even for those who didn't mind them, it was a very clear problem with a lot of people because of their ever diminished returns. |

If they must bring her back, have her severly injured and then she can regenrerate back to a man. which is what THE Master should be. I like the character of the Master but hated Missy. Stupid name to begin with never mind the prancing and posing around. As for her Mary Poppins impersonation !

And frankly I'd keep it that way. The show needs to make sure it keeps coming up with new ideas, rather than churning out the same villains year on year - we've had the Cybermen in episode 12 of Series 5, 6, 7 and 8 now as one example, on top of the Daleks annual outing. Rest Missy until Series 10, give Moffat a two-part story at that point, maybe (and for me preferably) under the guise of a new show runner. Slayer2012 |

Spoiler
Seriously though, what series 8 did to an extent is show how gender is irrelevant to character/nature. The Master was as mad and crazed and evil as ever and it totally refreshed the dynamic. I can't imagine a male actor adding the same unique spin to the Master/the Master's relationship with the Doctor that Michelle Gomez did. Whilst I agree the character was "silly/over the top to begin with I thought everything from the revelation scene in Dark Water onwards (including the whole of Death in Heaven) was completely in character. Heck at times s/he was more satanic and crazed than any previous incarnation of the Master I'm familiar with. |

So Missy will be back, do you think she will change from Mary Poppins style to Babooshka style?
Missy-Doctor, look away now. The Doctor-Why? Missy- Because. Clara- Listen to Missy, she makes sense, this time. |

Personally, I love the Master as a woman.
And I really think the Rani would make a very sexy chap! |

I thought Missy was excellent and expect to enjoy Gomez's return in that role. Absolutely no problem with a female Master. The fun Gomez was having that role, really going for it full bore, was evident. It gave the Master a fresh twist by adding a female, sexual layer to that attraction the Master has always had for the Doctor. If anyone's seen "The Imitation Game", I can imagine the childhood relationship between them being somewhat like that shown in that film between the young Turing and his "friend".

Who would you cast as the Rani?
So if they were casting a man to play the Rani, I could imagine someone like Joseph Fiennes or Idris Elba. Someone with genuine gravitas and sex appeal but who can also play it with an underlying sense of threat. |

But, Missy barely got a chance to stretch her legs in Death in Heaven. We've only had her being Masterly for one ep. Usually I'm against serial returns, find them gratuitous, but rarely has a villain's introduction so clearly been an appetiser. Great news, bring on the main course! Quote:
If you mean "man" as in homo sapiens terrae, i.e. Earth humans, you are quite correct. If you mean "male", I disagree.

Of course she'll return, was there any doubt? The only question was "when".

I hope this time we actually find out how he/she got off Gallifrey and regenerated. This isn't the eighties, when simply saying ''I'm indestructable'' is a sufficient explanation.
