There is one thing I've noticed and I wouldn't exactly call it 'music snobbery' but more being closed minded and hypocritical, when it comes to music.
What I've noticed, is that there is a certain group of people that always feel the need to tell people that they should listen to 'real music' and that they need to listen to a wider range of genres, instead of just pop, then they go on to make a list of who they consider to be 'real music' and the entire list is made up of White Male bands and White Male Bands only.
So they may think they have better taste but still, they are hardly open minded or diverse in their own music tastes are they? It's as though women and other ethnic groups/black people have never made any decent or real music in their eyes.
I'm not talking about people who claim to listen to 'real music' who then list/recommend music made by both men and women and white and black and from at least some of a variety of genres but I'm on about those people who are snobby towards other music and eagerly frequently call those with a different taste to their own "brainwashed sheeps" when they don't give any other types of music, the slightest chance themselves.
Also another thing is how you're told by these same people that you should listen to real music and then when you do go and explore some of the music they like, they then complain about people not being 'real fans' for not discovering the music back when they did. Even though the music was made long before you were born and the person critising you is about 20 years older than you are.
For example, a little while back I was going to buy a compilation of music, that featured some classics and greatest songs within a certain genre from back in the early 90s. Now, I was born in the early 90s and it wasn't a genre my parents ever listened to, therefore when I was a kid, I had no idea the genre even existed but when I did discover it and got into it about 5 years ago now, I thought this compilation would be a good place to start learning about the history of the genre because naturally, I was only aware of the current stuff that was being released but saw loads of people giving it 1 star reviews and saying things like "Good track selection but let's be honest, it's pointless. If you're a true fan of this genre you should already have all of these songs and if you don't you're just a bandwagon jumper bla bla bla"
Sorry for going on a rant! I just get so annoyed by stuff like this. What is it about music, that makes people want to feel oh so superior to others?

I do know many metal fans that are huge hiphop/rap fans at the same time though.
