Why is Tinchy out?

Half and half I think. He is obviously naturally very quiet and reserved, but also seems disastrously modest and unflirty in a way that clearly does not appeal to the kind of voter who likes to see people dry-humping in a hammock.

Surely no other campmate - perhaps ever - would have reached their last day before it was dragged out of them that they had kissed Rihanna. .

Good point. If he was an attention seeking desperado he would have brought up the Rihanna kiss on his first day. He was a nice, polite, respectful campmate who didn't get into any arguments (despite Kendra having a go at him in the first week regarding him making a joke about giving up his bed for one of the slammer campers). He got on well with Michael which was my favourite bromance of the series and when he did his trials he just got on with it without any histrionics.

A lovely man but he was too quiet hence why he was voted out in 5th place which is quite an achievement as most people had him down as being voted out first.

I am disappointed that Tinchy is out before Mel. As I think he was a more positive person and just more likeable.”

I agree. I was hoping that the double would be Mel and Kendra .. both equally annoying and difficult to like. But it's ITV and Mel is part of that family with Jake being the newest member so he is to be pushed down our throats as per the edits.

He was lovely but sadly did not fall into the neat bracket of, 'nice ordinary bloke who'd I'd take down the pub anyway.' GBP love their 'blokes'.

I give you Foggy. Not too many brains (so we cannot be intimidated) not gorgeous and ripped (because I will never look like that) and unthreateningly blokeish. Not some silly woman with an opinion (we can't handle that). Likes his fish and chips, blah, blah. Average, bit of a laff Foggy. Yawn!

So predictable. If he or pushy old madam Edwina win, I will not be surprised but I'll still wish GBP were not so very obvious.

He was just lovely.”

Absolutely. A true gentleman - and extremely dry and funny too.

I'm way too old and should know better, but I'm trying to shoehorn 'not in the criteria' into inappropriate conversations.

Michael Buerk also said he wanted Jake to win...

Spot-on. It's notable that the reasons suggested for Tinchy's early exit are the very reasons I, and probably others, liked hi so much. Maybe it's age-related, or maybe it is indeed a 'cultural' thing, in the sense that those of us who didn't spend our formative years steeped in reality TV 'culture' tend to see things differently from those who did/do.

Tinchy was great I thought , he was never given any favours with the edit either and it's all slowly becoming the Mel and jake show sadly . Last night was dreadfully in those horrid pairs favour . It's no shock Mel works for the itv and you got to be blind not to see them pushing jake for some presenting show after this ends as well as he's already been in two itv reality shows in the last couple of months. I think it was itv's say to get him to the live shows on X factor as well

This is a good point.
I tend to forget sometimes that the game that is IAC involves providing as much drama as possible to keep viewers entertained - but that doesn't entertain me; I far prefer to watch genuinely interesting people tell their stories (and I don't mean treating us to all the gory details of their sex lives!), and I like watching those that can hold onto their calmness and dignity while everyone else is unravelling and desperately competing for airtime.
There have been some really interesting people in camp over the past few years who have been completely sidelined by producers doing the edit, and thus labelled as boring by viewers; they simply didn't tick the boxes to be seen as good reality TV fodder.
Glutton for punishment that I am though, I still keep tuning in!
I blame Ant and Dec for that

He was voted out purely because he was a boring fart. Nothing else....

I thought he was lovely and didn't seem to need to swear every two minutes. My problem was that I couldn't quite understand all he said.

I agree, Tinchy should have pushed himself forward more. I wanted him to stay though, he seemed to be a nice guy.

I'm really disappointed that Tinchy has gone. Yes he was quiet but there were plenty of others who liked the sound of their own voices. I would have liked to have seen Tinchy win.

I don't really understand the cultural question. I hadn't even realised Tinchy was brought up in Ghana as he seemed like a typical London lad to me in the way he uses slang etc. His musical area of R&B and hip hop has been incredibly popular in the past few years especially among young people so hardly an "alien" world

I thought he did really well to get this far, I dont understand the shock about it

Only this week I have felt he was shown enough in the edit, so we could actually get to know him. Again, in the last 2 days, apart from his trial on Thursday, he was barely shown at all - compare the airtime that Jake gets, along with Mel and Kendra.

This is always going to be the case in shows like IAC whereby if you dont show a more vocal character or some kind of storyline early on in the show, then you'll become wallpaper or just there to make up the numbers. It doesnt matter how nice a person you are. Nadia suffered the same fate.

Though well done to Tinchy for lasting as long as he did, and I suspect that was down to his fearlessness doing the trials. But sadly even they were a bit bland to watch.
