I used to laugh so much at Corrie, but this year the comedy has been awful!!!

The only funny thing recently has been Norris and his parcel IMO! the whole Sofa stuff and dinner meal tonight was just cringe and awful!

What's everyone else think?

Oh soap lea, can you just agree with me for once?

I just don't find it that funny tbh, I find it a bit forced if I'm honest, the comedy isn't as good as what it used to be!

Thats the only thing corrie has ever been good for, a small giggle, if I wanted a good laugh I would watch only fools and horses or the inbetweeners thats why I don't watch corrie

I do agree sometimes lol I do agree its not what it used to be but it does have its moments. I just think Sally the snob is amusing.

Episode 1 tonight was so boring. It featured the Nazirs - the most unpopular family ever, talk of a spider invasion (is that what people really talk about), and the sofa nonsense. Who would really try to get a sofa back they had just sold?

Corrie was pure drivel.

Parcelgate was dreadful -- three episodes too long.

Sofagate is only watchable because of Sally.

Funnily enough, I hated the parcel stuff (only worth it for the scene with Norris ranting at Kylie and him missing the postman knocking on his door) but have enjoyed the sofa stuff so far. Good to see Kevin still being involved with Sally and not going down the route of being in competition with Tim.

I thought it was hilarious tonight especially the scene in the bistro with Kevin & Sally etc. I even laughed at Sean and Sinead tonight!

I love Sinead! And while I don't think Chesney is the most interesting of characters anymore, I'd hate to see her paired with anyone else as I think they'd change her personality. Hope we see more of her next year. She did even make Sean tolerable tonight.

Parcelgate was not remotely funny, but sofagate became amusing as soon as Sally got involved.

I must admit for the 1st time in a long long time I found some bits amusing, I thought Sinead was great (really liking the character) & the Kev/Tim bits were ok.

Well I think you're totally wrong. I thought the Kev/Sally/Tim stuff tonight was excellent. Sally Dynevor is the best actress in any soap at the moment - a true comedienne! And the guy who plays Tim is fabulous - they make a great double act. I find the humour in Corrie very natural and unforced.

I agree about the parcel thing though - that was just silly.

Real people talk about all sorts of inane things.

They even talk about soap opera's as if they are the most important thing in the world and how they would like to kill off the characters they don't like. Go figure!

I always find Sally in full snob mode funny. Even Sinead doing her secretary from Absolutely Fabulous routine was mildly funny tonight.

I was cringing hard at the sofa storyline, but somehow it all slotted into place in the second episode. Sally is a total and utter joy and the partnership with Tim will never not be genius. I was even on board with the American lady by the end of the episode.

Very funny scenes with the sofa but should they be dedicating so much time to something like that in December? Probably not.

A storyline like this would once have been filler against something meatier and more worthwhile.

Norris and his parcel was too dragged out. Funny as piles IMO.

David has been the comedy star this year. I feel Norris has been overused. I'm not a fan of Tim so he's tempering my enjoyment of Sally.

As far as comedy storylines go, I can't think of any that have really hit the mark this year. The library protest could have been good if Kal's mum wasn't annoying me. I don't mind suspending my disbelief for the sake of some silliness but there has to be a payoff. I agree with those who question the amount of time the comedy storylines have taken up.

I thought that was just people typing on here rather than talked about.

I remember in an old job we talked about the oddest things, we talked/debated for days whether it was better to be burned at the stake or buried alive.

so yeah the inane things is right

All this supposedly funny stuff ( parcels, lamps in skips, tarantulas in bananas, lip sofas ) seems to be a bit of an obsession with the Corrie script writers at the moment and it's really annoying.
I feel like I'm tuning in to my favourite soap- which usually has a mix of brilliant but subtle comedy and more serious drama - and getting " Last Of The Summer Wine" instead.

Pack it in, Corrie!

It never will be without Blanche. In fairness, Deirdre is good at comedy

I don't think it's the lack of comedy value in the characters but the way the comedy is being written at the moment.
In the past they'd have hilarious one-liners or a comedy storyline which lasted 2 episodes at the most. Now they drag supposedly 'funny' stories out for a whole week or more or go on and on about something throughout a whole episode ( like the spider thing last night. What was the point of that?! )

We have some great comedy characters at the moment; Norris, Mary, Dev, Julie, Tim & Sally. They're just being wasted with poor scripts.

I hate the attempts of comedy they make Gail do. I find she overacts and tries too hard to be funny when it's meant to be natural. Most of the time she makes me cringe when she is doing her 'comedy' acting.
