Hi there just looking for some help. Can anyone recommend a Freeview hd recorder box. Not worried about a big drive as its for my dad but would like one that will be reasonably reliable. Any help appreciated looking to pay less than £150.

My thoughts exactly.

The HDR Fox-T2 is an older model but from what I've seen posted in the Freeview PVR forum on DS is still worth getting if you can find one, eg

Provided the OP is happy with just iplayer (in HD) from the main catch up services then seconded especially if the custom firmware is loaded.

Not quite sure what you mean by both. tealady's link was to a general list of devices, the first one of which is a Freesat recorder so no use if your dad doesn't have a dish.

Below that is the HDR-2000T which is a current model. I would ignore the YouView models. They will work perfectly well as basic Freeview recorders but they come with loads of Internet only features such as the catch-up facility that might confuse your dad as they won't work if he has no internet but may not necessarily be hidden from view.

The HDR Fox-T2 is an older model but is a great bit of kit and reasonably easy to use.

Ahh lovely thankyou. It will be a case of either the HDR-2000 or Fox then. Thanks for all your help folks.
