What is the point in the "a-thons"

I'm struggling to see the point of them.

I'd rather them do two dances than just one and an "a-thon".

Me too. They should each have done a latin and a ballroom dance tonight.

Totally agree. Waste of time and pointless IMHO.

I have been reliably informed that they are quite uncomfortable to wear.

How are we supposed to judge who's best. The dance is about 60 seconds long. Half of which only one couple is on camera and they're nearly all standing on the spot not moving. How are we supposed to compare? Oh wait, we're not we're just meant to watch the judges put their favourites first.

Yes this is how the judge professionals, but for SCD it is just a tool in the judge's hands that they use to manipulate the leaderboard, I to would like to see 2 dances for each couple at this stage

I think it is a gimmick we have inherited along with everything else that is Americanised on Dancing With The Stars. However, I think the more technical justification is that it allows a direct comparison between the celebs with them all doing the same dance at the same time. With the abysmal camera work it wasn't easy to do that as a viewer but the judges would have had a much better view.

They should have brought back Wallace and Judy Moo and thrown them in the middle of it to liven things up.

They could have drawn the scores out of a hat for all we could see of that on the TV and anyway apart from getting Caroline and Simon in a different order I predicted the scores before they even danced......

Result of the Waltzathon means

Pixie and Frankie have gone up one mark on leaderboard
Caroline and Simon are the same
Jake and Mark and one mark down on the leaderboard

what a surprise.

I couldn't spot a line of dance. I saw a couple dashing across the middle at one stage.

Did the blokes lead? I don't imagine so.

I enjoyed it.
