I agree with you about the format being stale now.
I also agree with you about your suggestions too.
.This is one show that hasn't changed its format. It's the same old things year every year. And for many years it's worked. A tried and tested formula that relies on familiarity.
It hasn't changed because it hasn't needed to. People tune in every year and it gets loads of viewers. So why should they change? Up until now there's been nothing to compel them to.
Not been under threat from the competition, no low ratings, so why bother trying to fix what isn't broken?
But programmes that stick to a formula and don't budge from it ever probably will have an expiry date. It won't be this year, but I do get the sense that the format has gone stale. We're too used to seeing exactly the same things and I just get the sense that although people still tune in, it might be around now when people start losing interest as it may not be the exciting must tune in telly that it used to be.
