Band Aid 30 has dropped from 2 to 12 this week. Today the cd is released. Do you think it now stands any hope of being Christmas number one? I thought it would stay in the top 5. This must be a first. A Christmas record enters at number one in mid November, does to 2 before the end of November and drops out of the top ten two weeks before Christmas. It really should have been released last week or this week. I know Bob Geldof would say he doesn't care about chart positions but seeing as the other three all made the Christmas Number One he must want the same for this one. So do you think it can get back in the top ten at least in time for Christmas?

Its performed terribly. Although it was such a rushed attempt I can't say I'm surprised. A terrible version with absolutely no heart whatsoever. I doubt it'll be troubling the top 10 again.

Oh dear, Bob isn't going to be happy.

I wonder how long it's going to take for him to be back on the tv telling everyone to download it a million times again and scaremongering ?

I would quite like it to drop out of the top 40 altogether.

Let's face it, come Christmas the radio station will be playing the original version.

Band Aid 30 is terrible.

Now people will start buying the CD as Christmas Presents.

As people get desperate to get their kids stocking fillers, so the sales of this will pick up again. Afterall you can't wrap a download, and none of the classics are available in a physical format any more.

When I first saw it on x factor I immediately thought I'd buy the cd. Not now.

Well charity singles don't normally sell in the long run because most people purchased it the first week it was out.

Bob was on Good Morning Britain today urging people to buy multiple copies of the cd and leave them at the counter to be bought again. He really does try to shame people into buying the crap.

I would rather donate directly to a cause rather than get lectured by that pompous prick.

I am the type of person who prefers going to these actual charity places and giving them the money up front. I have done in the past

I am wary about donating money through buying these charity songs or donating to comic/sport relief or children in need. Because i have no clue if that money is going to them. Especially as they seem worse off when the next comic/sport relief and children in need rolls aroind.

What a prick. I hope that he's donating a ton of money. I bet that he isn't, though.

I went off of him when he used the "Don't you know who I am" card on a friend of mine who asked him to go through the basic security that everybody has to go through at Heathrow airport a couple of years ago.

I'm in agreement, LM.

I could never understand why it was released so early either?? And it was bizzare that the bookies were making it the favourite for Xmas Number 1. Fair enough if it had been 20 years ago it may well have stayed at the top throughout December but nowadays it's completely unheard of.

I think it will be gone out of the chart by the 25th!

Maybe it's standard industry practice (and expected) nowadays to keep the Xmas week free for the X Factor winner perhaps even Sir Bob dare not take on the Cowell

It wasn't a couple of years ago - in 2012, the X Factor winner was released a week early so that they could have the No1 and allow the Hillsborough single to be the Christmas No1.

You are absolutely right! and they are!! (Well i've heard the original played more than the new one on radio, music channels, shops you name it, Ive barely heard Band Aid 30 played since it was premiered on the X Factor results)

Probably, it sounds like 'permission' was granted on that occasion, maybe it doesn't fit in with the X Factor plans this year, so Sir Bob was 'allocated' the November week to release Band Aid, certainly very weird why a Christmas song was released so early.

Don't forget, there was a time that the X Factor used to release some charity tat every year at around the same time.

Either way, it will take more than a last minute plea on Breakfast TV to get anyone buying it again.

Although I agree it's not a great version it hasn't performed terribly. It's certified gold if I am not mistaken.

I wonder how many copies him and his family will buy? I can't stand pompous, self important pricks that tell hard working, struggling folk what to spend their money on. I hope his shitty record sinks without trace. It's absolutely f#cking terrible.

For a Band Aid single it has performed atrociously poorly.

Bob has misread public opinion terribly, as I expect he thought he could ride on the coat-tails of previous efforts with a bit of lyric tweaking. Instead he has turned out the most cringe-worthy and ill-judged charity single known to man, and should pull the record immediately.

What a shame. Wonder what Geldof will do next to get himself some publicity.

No it hasn't. Get it into or perspective. 50K would be appalling.
