MP3 Player with very large hard drive [with voice recording]

I own a Sony NWZ-S765 14GB Media player [MP3 Player] [http://bit.ly/1IoRdhe] and think it's great but I really could do with something with a lot bigger hard drive [maybe 40GB or even higher] does anyone know if Sony or anyone else makes one?, I have looked about on the net but can't seem to find anything.

This NWZ-S765 has video playback, this is something I would not necessarily require on another model as I only want to play audio files, it would have to have voice recording or I wouldn't be interested. Basically I just want an MP3 player with a massive hard drive that incorporates as well voice recording. It doesn't have to be a Sony, it doesn't have to be a similar type model in looks, size and shape, it wouldn't matter if it was 3 times bigger than what I currently have as I wouldn't be using it when out and about it's just for use indoors.

I realise having a very large hard drive will probably mean it's going to be expensive I will accept that from the off, I just can't find anything on the market and hope some of you chaps will help out with a few suggestions and hopefully a link or two.

A 64GB micro SD card is just over £20, so it's not expensive. You don't need a HDD to get 40GB these days.

I'd recommend the Sansa Clip Zip, but it doesn't do video, the user interface is very minimalist compared to what you're used to, and the voice recording quality is poor. You can put whatever sized micro SD card you want in it though.

Cheers,
David.

David thank you for the advice,
I am a complete ignoramus when it comes to modern day media appliances so you will have to be patient with me, so I can buy a 64GB SD card to fit inside my Sony NWZ-S765 player I never knew that at all.

Will I still be able to transfer files direct from my PC hard drive onto it like I can now?.

There is no way to use SD cards with the Sony.

No, as Chris says, I didn't mean you could put a memory card in your existing mp3 player, just that this amount of storage isn't expensive any more and doesn't mean you need a hard drive.

Sorry I don't know of a specific model to suggest. One problem is that fewer new mp3 players are available these days. Most people seem to use their smart phone, so the market is smaller than it used to be, with mostly dirt cheap or very high end models (without voice recording).

Cheers,
David.

So it sounds like it's unlikely that I'll be able to upgrade my Sony NWZ-S765 mp3 player to a bigger hard drive, this means I will need to look into buying a different model altogether that either already has a large hard drive or can be upgraded into having one, I'm now looking at 64GB having had that size pointed out to me.

Anyone any suggestions about a decent model I should be looking at?.

It will need to have voice recording and drag and drop files from computer to player simplicity.

have you looked at Cowon? If you can get hold of an X7 (they're a few years old now) then that should more than meet your capacity issue review for it here!

I've not used this one, I've still got a Cowon J3 (now discontinued, but 32gb + 32gb memory card). I've not recorded much on it, but what I did was fine, and the mic was quite sensitive - better than my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is, anyway.

Some people complain about Cowon's proprietry interface, but I've never had any trouble understanding it once I've had a good play around (that's what the internet is for, right?!!) - it works mostly on symbols, so crack those and you're fine.

But you can drag and drop, you can delete files on the go if desired, beautiful sound and the X7 with the 160gbHDD should more than cover your storage needs! (otherwise, if you want a slimmer player, consider the Cowon Z2, the updated version of the J3. It runs on Android and can utilise Wifi, if that sort of thing is of interest...)

My Sansa+ Clip+ has 8GB internal storage and a 32GB memory card giving 40GB in total.

As Ladyfluff has said, a cowan x7 fits your bill, I have one and it works well using the bluetooth through my headphones.

Have a look, they're a bit like hens teeth and I bought mine second hand but in mint condition.

Many thanks to LadyFluff, Gomezz and Dave I am taking everything in you are all saying and giving it thought, I'm not going to rush out and buy anything at the moment I'm going to take my time with it I've now decided.
I might look for a second hand one that fits the bill but to be honest I think I favour something brand new so I'm going to puzzle on it, maybe look around the right stores for in-store advice on the right model for me and possibly buy one with future upgrading possibilities.

Really appreciate all the help I've been given thank you again.
