I like the idea of an Autumn run cos it goes back to me childhood in the second half of the seventies, but personally Series Six worked for me. (And I don't mean artistically, although I really liked it myself. A lot more than many fans, I get the impression!) ie. Spring Run/summer break/Autumn Run/Xmas Special.

Obviously that was a one-off and split series aren't popular with many, but I rather liked that structure.

Series 9 hasn't even started filming yet, so there's virtually no chance it would be ready for the Spring.”

The only way to move DW back to the spring slot is to film S9 and 10 as a continuous block, with 9 airing in the same slot 8 did, and 10 airing in spring/summer 2016. Although we'd all love such a short break between DW, I don't think the cast and crew would be happy about such a long workload.
