I'll tell you what infuriates me - it's that lazy, childish and badly written stuff like this gets published and the writer actually gets paid for serving up such dopey, pointless drivel.

Yeah it seems a little mean spirited to me.

Oh, I don't know. They got their 74p worth

You're only supposed to take it as seriously as other page-fillers like "10 things women hate about men" that lists "Leaving the loo seat up", or "10 annoying things about office jobs" that lists the dull reality of water cooler moments.

Anyone remember the stand-up comedians who used to do brief skits on 3-2-1 with Ted Rogers? They were equally terrible and space-filling.

Here's my list of ten things that infuriate Who fans:

1) not being able to find the remote control;
2) stubbing a toe really hard;
3) Hollyoaks;
4) leaves on the line;
5) ennui;
6) that vague feeling that maybe they left the oven on;
7) when their neck itches as though they just got a haircut, but they didn't just get a haircut;
8) the 2002 changes to the law regarding adverse possession of registered land;
9) tragedies that occur in English-speaking countries;
10) tragedies that occur in non-English-speaking countries.

Re. no. 7; I have never heard a 'true' Whovian say "Its Hartnell or nothing."
I've heard a few claim Troughton as their fave but Hartnell get more respect as the first doctor than love as a favourite doctor.

I don't think it was something to be taken seriously. Chill out, have a mince pie...

What irks me is po-faced fans who can't embrace a bit of light-hearted, affectionate teasing like this. It makes us all look like humourless fools.

I am infuriated by this list.

Seriously, can't think of anything that actually infuriates me about Doctor Who. Apart from the suspension and the cancellation, but that was more disappointment that my favourite show wasn't on, basically. Worst I can say is occasionally stories haven't lived up to my expectations, really.

I'd make a pathetic keyboard warrior.

I'm all for affectionate light hearted teasing, Irma, and as a fully paid up (but certainly not po-faced) fan I'm more than happy to have the piss taken out of me, if the barbs are witty and well aimed.
But this article wasn't any of those things. It was nothing but space filling, badly written piffle. That's why I didn't like it.
Any badly written and pointless drivel annoys me - and, yes, I'm well aware of the huge irony of what I've just written, on a forum which does contain a large amount of badly written, pointless drivel...

Oooh - get that anger under control Michael! You sound really riled up!

No! It's like Pandora's Box. A switch has been flipped. The Pandorica Opens. RIGHT...

The Colin Baker era wasn't as good as the Davison Era! (Pow!)

After Season 7, the Pertwee era was a bit inconsistant! (Sock!)

The Dominators is pretty rubbish! (Ker-boing!)

Victoria was really quite annoying! (Splatttt!)

Despite Waters of Mars I've never been ars*d to buy the 'Specials' Box set! (Ka-boom!)

(I'll go for a lie down in a dark room, I think. Too much rage....)

I've realised that my answer to you sounded grumpier than I intended! And I do see your point. But I just think it's pointless getting upset about such things. It isn't particularly well-written, but it was harmless enough.

But it, is, as you say, pointless filler.
