Admittedly I've not played about with the 6 yet but is that even possible seeing there are two versions the International hardware version (likely your friend has) and the Americas version..

Surely do the opposite of what you just did?

Or flash the International modem.

I don't remember how, but I did this to my Nexus 5.

It is possible to get out of it - you just need to keep fiddling with the settings in that hidden menu.

Don't know if this will work but trying dialling this code *#*#4636#*#* select Phone Information, scroll down and see if you can change the radio settings there.

Make a note of the current settings just encase you need to go back.

corf beat me to it.

*#*'4636 doesn't work on my n5 any more - but there's an app that you can download which gives access to it.

It sounds like you have indeed set the modem to CDMA...

You need LTE/GSM (Auto)

I did this with the TELINFO app. The setting should not be on there. i only managed to fix the phone a Xperia Z2 with a full factory reset. But I have heard that if the Handset is unlocked it may not default back to any particular setting. I was still able to get 4G during the event but no voice calls

edit just read you have tried a full reset....in that case send it for *Repair*

Funnily enough I did a firmware update with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 a few months ago and I noticed that suddenly afterwards the New York Times newspaper app was activated cannot get uninstalled because it was a pre-installed.

Have spoken to both Google and Motorola and neither one can help. So it looks like the phone is bricked.

I typed in the test menu. This gives you the option to change. Networks ext. From there I went to the sub menu and pressed radio band. I was just curious to see what happened and selected USA band. The phone will now no longer pick up any UK networks and I cannot find any option to change it back to UK. I have tried a full wipe but still no luck.

There must be a modem you can flash to the phone?

I'd say your best bet is to ask in the XDA forums for the Nexus 6, if anyone knows how to fix it, they are probably there.

Download Radio Switcher, select GSM only, reboot - that should do it.

I tend to agree. If a phone can be bricked by just operating user accessible functions then there is something seriously wrong.

The test menu is not really a "user accessible function", unless you know that one exists and google the code to type in.

It's not much different to service menus on TVs where if you know what buttons to press, you can get in and seriously damage the TV if you change settings without knowing exactly what you're doing

The phone isn't bricked, not even close.
Bricked means it won't boot and can't be recovered.

The OP seemed to be saying it was. It's a bit semantic but if it can't be used as a phone it is not a lot more use than a brick

To the op, don't panic I was in the same situation, although I can't remember how I got out of it (re set/factory reset? Select a ddifferent signal type such as wcdma preffered?

Also try removing the sim card, rebooting, re boot then re insert the sim card.
