What is fascinating great feature about this phone is that it has both CDMA and GSM combined in the US model. (reviews don't seem to want to tell you that )
That would mean you could hop out the CDMA US walled garden network into the GSM one.

However with the international model not having this feature, I get the impression that they left that US option in the service menu, and not finding it there, it maybe gets permanently stuck in a nowhere land.

Nothing new there, the iPhone 6 and 6+ have CDMA and GSM combined in all versions of the phone.

Thanks for all the advice. Did a update to Lollipop 5.01 tonight. After the update it completely restored itself and is now back to UK settings. Moral of the story, leave the settings well alone.

Glad you got it sorted.

Quite a few modern phones do that now - including the iPhone.

I would think that it is only where they sell CDMA you get CDMA, otherwise license fees pertain.
