Kylie MInogue Kiss Me Once

Sorry but this album is incredible. One of my fave albums of the year.

Totally reinvented herself once again

Her best album since Fever and Body Language.

So many gems on here, it deserved to sell a million copies.

She shoulda taken the fourth judging spot on XF instead of Mel B and performed Into The Blue and tailed to a platinum album. Can't believe its only sold 68,000 copies last i heard. The Voice ruins careers - coaches and contestants.

Why didn't it sell a million copies?

Is this sarcasm?
It didn't do well because it was bland, uninspired, boring pop music, nowhere near Kylie's usual high quality pop gems, lumping this album in with Fever is a huge insult to Fever as that album was excellent.

It's not a bad album by any means, and it's certainly better than the dated Aphrodite. It wasn't until I saw the tour that the album really clicked with me though. She only sang a handful of the tracks live (clearly she knows when to stop flogging the dead horse) but Sexercize and Beautiful were brilliant live. The two bonus tracks were definitely two of the strongest on the entire album though.

I have no idea why the album performed as badly as it did though. She released one of her strongest singles in year with Into the Blue (her best since Red Blooded Women IMO) and had absolutely tons of promo with The Voice. Unfortunately she then followed it up with the worst single of her entire career with I Was Gonna Cancel. Dreadful dire song! What was she thinking?!?!?!

Out of her albums i'd rate this more of less in the middle. I didn't desrve to sell millions, but certainly deserved to go at least platinum. This barely went silver!

I thought Into the Blue was a decent lead single, but then I heard the other tracks on the album. Million Miles should've been the lead single. I Was Gonna Cancel was a poor second single that pretty much buried the album. The music videos were also weak. Kylie has always been a fantastic visual artist, but the music videos were cheap and forgettable. The promotion for the album also sucked. I remember being in two minds when Kylie signed to Roc Nation. I was interested to see where they would take her career, but I was also apprehensive whether it would mean Kylie going all urban. There’s no denying they handled Kiss Me Once badly.

I remember when Kylie complained that the promotion for Aphrodite was behind the times, but at least she was out there doing lots of promotion that helped the album achieve decent sales in the UK and worldwide. I think her people were relying far too much on The Voice to sell the album. That was a mistake. I still can't believe Kylie was a judge on that show. She didn't need to do it. I understand why an ex-Spice Girl has to resort to judging a talent show like The X Factor, but Kylie had a great year between 2010 and 2011. Her career was in a great place.

There are some great tracks on Kiss Me Once – Sleeping With the Enemy, Fine, Sexy Love, Million Miles, If Only – but hopefully she’ll be a lot more focused when she records and releases her next album. Non-album tracks like Crystallize, Golden Boy, Skirt and Sparks had a great reaction from both fans and non-fans. I really wish Kylie would put the strongest tracks on the album instead of hiding them away as B-sides and standalone singles.

In a nutshell:

- Lack of promotion
- Poor single choices
- Disappointing videos

She also needs to kick Will Baker to the curb.

I agree that I Was Gonna Cancel was the worst track on the album. The only reason I can think why it was released as the second single is purely because of the Pharell connection.

Interesting thing on wikipedia is that Kylie apparently had first dibs on Cheryls Crazy Stupid Love for the Kiss Me Once album, but Roc Nation didn't want her to do it cos it was too "pop"......

It just wasn't a very good album. Kylie is capable of far better.

Kylie's albums are normally a miss with me but I liked this album a lot. But i won't label it a masterpiece or a huge highlight of albums of 2014 because it isn't. But it's a good album for me. Much better than Aphrodite.

KMO is one of my least fave kylie albums. I played it a couple of times but i find it dull and uninteresting. I loved into the blue, i also like if only and feels so good. The rest of the album is hopeless...all the songs with sex in the title feel forced and cringeworthy...its a shame really. Im a big kylie fan but her albums are always hit and miss...i liked aphrodite but it all sounded the same. X was a missed opportunity in regards to the lead single as it should have been the one. Her best album to date is light years..i still play it now.

Im with the ones who think it's a good album, Couldn't give a flying toss about statistics "OH ITS A FLOP, POOR SINGLES ect ect yadayada...."...thats all people seem to care about these days.

Cant people just enjoy music for what it is? Not the stats...it really pisses me off.
