Blu-Ray finalisation
lundavra
11-12-2014
I occasionally send some TV programmes on Blu-Ray to a relative overseas. He can't run one recent one, the menu does not not display on his Blu-Ray player and his PC shows the content but will not play it.

It could be a faulty disc but I am wondering if I forgot to finalise that one. If that is the case, is it possible for him to finalise on a completely different Blu-Ray recorder?

Not tried it with a Blu-Ray but I have used a different recorder to finalise CDs a long time ago. Though that was using the same make and model of recorder to the one that created the CD.

So using the same make and model of recorder might work. As might using a different model by the same maker. Less likely to work is using a completely different maker.

Though given that the PC cannot play the video I'm wondering if the problem is not that it isn't finalised? If the PC can see the files on the disk then in theory it should be able to play them. Assuming the PC has suitable software and plays other disks OK.

So maybe there is some other issue with the disk?

Thanks

I have had the odd dodgy disc though more usually DVDs rather than CDs. He is going to take to a PC repair place and ask if they have any ideas as well as see if anyone he knows has a Blu-Ray recorder.
