They've added more Doctor Who characters now? Is ITVs plan just to hire actors from Doctor Who and Doctor Who related shows and make detective shows with them? Like Chasing Shadows, with River Song, Mickey, and Reece Shearsmith who cameoed as Patrick Troughton in An Adventure In Time and Space. As well as Martha's mum and some other actors who had small bit parts in Doctor Who (though in fairness eventually every small British actor will have been killed by a Dalek/Cyberman/the Master...).

^U.S. audiences seem to prefer British shows that have little connection with everyday, contemporary Britain.
Period dramas (Downton Abbey) Sci-fi/Fantasies (DW) and dramas with colourful plots and larger-than-life characters (e.g. Sherlock) have all succeeded in America.
Shows like Broadchurch or The Missing are too grounded in the 'real Britain' of today to have as broad an appeal to U.S. viewers.

Lovely surreal nod to "The Waters of Mars" in last night's instalment.

I thought that, too.

There was also an earlier episode where he was laying out those spy cameras where he put his glasses on just to start fiddling with them that I thought was very doctorish.

Saying that he's been holding back on this regeneration for a long time it seems, how much of broadchurch will he detonate with him this time
