We all know that some movies wouldn't come across very well without the music score, but what is your favourite pieces of music from a film?

I'll kick it off with the following...

Coffey On The Mile - The Green Mile
Riggs & Murtaugh - Lethal Weapon 2
Time Travel - The Time Machine

Coffey On The Mile - The Green Mile
A few years ago I suddenly realised that several films that I found very moving.....all had a soundtrack written by Thomas Newman.

I cannot imagine Meet Joe Black without that score.

Did the producers (of several films) decide that their movie had a certain melancholy quality that needed them to get Thomas Newman on board.....Or did Thomas Newman create that mood?

I had a similar experience not so long ago. I was listening to a compilation film score album and loved the tracks from The Shawshank Redemption, American Beauty and Revolutionary Road... and they were all by Thomas Newman.

I also quite liked his work on Skyfall... especially the part where M and Bond drive to Scotland, the music and imagery of that scene work so brilliantly together https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fX7oGL30-w

Ice Dance - Edward Scissorhands
Wild Theme - Local Hero
Opening Titles - Batman '89

I really like Elmer Bernstein's work on Ghostbusters. The score is brilliant... it's a shame it's so hard to find...

i have never bought that many soundtrack albums, but Bladerunner is one and for me captures the film beautifully.
