My absolute favourite series of books for many years
The scene with the shrike impaling the baby mice in the cartoon has always stuck with me!

Shostakovich Symphony number 1
When I made an effort to learn about classical music I never got as far as Shostakovich but I saw that documentary the other night about his 7th Symphony and the Siege of Leningrad.........and it sounded pretty good so I'm giving him a go, starting of course with Symphony number 1
I played it twice this morning.........it's good

Funily enough Shostakovich was the last U tube clip I went in search of, although in my case it was Waltz No 2 (I forget why) I then got distracted with clips of cats getting delirously happy when given an olive (clips presented to me as the result of a search I had done a few days before)

I've always liked the TV series.

I last watched a medical video of someone under local anaesthetic having a sebaceous cyst or pilar cyst removed from their scalp! It was strangely interesting!
