O2 - Signal Problems
I have an O2 contract phone that I have had for the past 5 years, with no problems I have recently moved and now cannot get a signal, considering I make the majority of my mobile calls from home I now have a contract that is of little use to me.
I am in the contract untill september due to an upgrade I took out with them Orange & BT Mobile (Vodafone) seem to work fine and its a BT Mobile I now use mostly. Am I able to end the contract early due to having no signal? My guess is that I will have to keep it the full term and pay for it any way. Any help would be appreciated many thanks. Ian |

Depends on your current location in the UK.. Not all of the country has a signal at all never mind a decent one. There are parts of the country that are not served by o2 either cos its not viable or that there is not currently a mast or that natural obstacles (hills, mountains and even buildings etc) may be blocking line of sight to a mast. Contact o2 for info as to whether your area is served by them or ask them to do a check on the signal levels in your area.. Its better than moving home again.

I moved 2 miles down the road I went from a full signal to no signal by doing this. I live in Kent on the south east coast by the way.

could possibly be an obstruction of some kind then or maybe just out of range.. mobile signals fall off pretty rapidly.. could just try moving around the house or outside.. I've had this problem at times too..

I followed this complaint up with O2 in March and they gave me 2 months line rental free as compensation I still have 5 months to go with this contract before I can cancel, i spoke to them about disconnection but the charge is the 5 months line rental bundled together so it would be cheaper to keep the mobile for the next 5 months.
O2 have said that reception problems are not a valid reason for free early termination. I have decided to raise an offical complaint to their head office to see if I can get the contract terminated. Does anybody have this address? Or any ideas how I can get them to cancel. Thanks for your help. Ian |

I have had nothing but trouble with O2 - I have tracked down a lady called Ellie Stone who I now talk to when I have problems. Her role is Customer Satisfaction Exec,
she's pretty good. Her email address is ellie.stone@o2.com Thanks |

I have in the last 6 or 7 weeks been getting a weak 02 singal now and again. Im on there pay and go. I mostly get 3 or 4 bars out of the 5 but it can go down to 2 or even 1 bar now and again. I get 4 bars when im at work. I have once in a while been lucky to get 5 bars out of the 5 for signal but that dont happen very often.

Balance is now working again with me £3.11 in my mobile. Its been almost a week since I put £10 in it. Signal keeps going from 3 bars out of 5 to 2 bars out of the 5 the night.

If you need to ring O2 Customer Care you would be better off using the national rate numbers the number you have quoted is premium rate. O2 Pay as you Go Customer Care (0870) 5678678 O2 Pay Monthly Customer Care (0870) 5860860 Or you could try www.saynoto0870.com they may have a lo-call rate number. |

You can also call FREE Fone 0800 005 005. I've used these
a few times and they are more helpful than the ONLINE team! |

Got a result today just recieved a letter from O2 saying that they will terminate the contract on 13/06/05 without a disconnection charge. They will also give me a PAC code to port my number to my new network. Great customer care as always shame they would'nt do this when I called. Thanks everyone. |
