I appreciate she has to pay her mortgage, but if her dancing career is at an end soon, why not take up employment in another area, perhaps teaching or any other job that will pay her bills. What do other ex pro dancers do?

This chasing fame aspect really gets on my nerves.”

most of them teach, do dems etc - really odd choice of programme for her to do

Just " why" would you do it? She could ruin her main career.

Feel so sorry for Ola. If it really is true what all the papers are reporting. Well I bet it's true just how bad it might be could be false.

Daily mail are even reporting it now: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...ning-Jump.html

However why she decided to take part in the Jump I don't understand. As it clearly is a very dangerous show. Where I think last series every one of the contestants got some kind of injure although some not bad others were a lot more severe.

Also I can't believe the BBC have allowed her to do it. Well start training while she is still on SCD as a pro dancing in the pro numbers. Can't see them being very happy with what has happen. So i'm very doubtful on her return next year.

Wish Ola a very speedy recover and hope she can get back dancing very soon back to her full amazing self

She would have been better off angling for Masterchef. I know it's the BBC (sorry James ) but the most you are likely to get is a slight flesh wound or burny hand. Nothing too career/income threatening. In the jump you get speed skating, skeleton bob, giant slalom and ski cross at least, maybe more? For anyone with a job depending on their lower limb function it seems a risky take up.

I would have thought anything that involved the risk of injury would have been a complete 'no no'”

When I saw her name in the released line-up, my first thought as that it was crazy for a dancer to do it, since the risk of injury is so high! I think the only person who didn't incur an injury last year was the winner!

Really sorry to hear this. Esp if this was a bit of private preparation and she wasn't even officially in the show yet - no insurance and now, no pay-packet for it. I hope the tabloids are exaggerating the severity of her injury.

really sorry to hear Ola has been injured but Im baffled as to why a professional dancer would even contemplate doing The Jump

wishing her a speedy recovery though and I am hoping her injuries are as bad as the papers are making out

I'd like to echo your post if I may.

Wishing Ola a very speedy recovery. Very sad to hear of her injury.

Poor Ola. I'm not a big fan but really hope this isn't too severe - she is a great dancer and teacher and certainly does not deserve this.

I am bewildered why she's doing somethng that could do serious damage to her main career, and why she was training at this time with two weeks of the show to do and dance gigs lined up.

I totally hope her injuries are not as bad as being reported but she could be in serious trouble in a lot of ways.

This is bad news. Ola is one of my favourite dancers and it's because you can see the joy she gets from dancing, whilst some of the others just seem to see it as a job.

I don't blame her for trying something new but this is something that perhaps should have been avoided.

Her dancing and looks won't last forever and she needs to build up a nest egg. But please do it where you won't get hurt.

Awww poor Ola.

Hope it isn't as bad as the article implies.

This saddens me in a number of ways. Pure conjecture on my part, but I'd say Ola's had a difficult year, with a lot of less than positive publicity (James' outbursts, the alleged bullying, rumours that she's not coming back), and it seems like she was either badly advised or made a poorly considered decision in opting to do The Jump.

Her dance future hangs in the balance, not least the proposed tour with Arlene, and she may have run into legal issues with the BBC by overlapping Jump training with her Strictly contracted commitments.

I guess she felt that she needed to stay in the public eye in order to increase publicity for their proposed tour, but like many others here I find it crazy that someone who relies on physical fitness in order to make a living would undertake something so notoriously injury-ridden.

Dancing is not risk free! In fact, professional dancers are far more likely be injured than Rugby players.

"80 per cent of dancers incur at least one injury a year that affects their ability to perform – compared to a 20 per cent injury rate for rugby or football players".

As Trent is one of the pro dancers I would have guessed Gordana will be the stand in?

Note sure that most realise, but Crystal was the assistant choreographer for the Pro dance last week - (the one with water), where Neil Jones was a guest dancer.
Yes, Gordana will be a good bet and certainly has all the credentials.

Agree, dancers do get injuries but find Ballet, Jazz, freestyle and Hip Hop which have higher impact on legs attracts more injury than ballroom and latin in saying that dancers of any type of dance who are not taught the right technique can injure themselves - running a dance centre where we cover most forms of dance pupils in ballroom and latin sustain the least injuries overall - all our competitve couples steer away from activities outside their dancing which can injure them so really surprised Ola considered sking

Nothing in life is risk-free, but the level of injury that can potentially occur as a result of an activity such as skiing are far greater than those likely to be sustained while dancing. You'd have to be going some in a quickstep to reach the same sort of speed you'd acquire in downhill skiing. And however precarious some of the lifts are, they don't obtain the height of a ski jump.

Really awful news - I wish Ola a speedy recovery and as others have said, I do hope the newspapers are exaggerating her injuries.

Also, as most have said, why on earth sign up for this show - it has a very bad track record regarding injuries - and particularly if the activities that you have to take part it are not ones that you are familiar with ( I am assuming here that Ola is not a skier ? )

What a wonderful post. It was a mind-boggling decision of Ola to do this but at least some can look at this with empathy.

Poor Ola but I can't understand why a professional dancer whose career is reliant on her fitness would take part in a dangerous reality show. If her career ends it's such a shame, and James's career is not to brilliant at the moment. Get well soon Ola.

You know I think she has been under such stress this year, both arguably imposed and from outside, that she made a rash decision. She never struck me before as the type to do such silly things, on the show she has always seemed quite a level headed and sensible sort so its truly baffling.

I remember a story a while ago saying that Ola had been been badly hurt while taking part in Total Wipeout. Obviously there turned out to be a degree of media exaggeration, but I'm surprised Ola was prepared to take that kind of chance again. However, what ever the extent of her injury, I wish her well, and hope she makes a speedy recovery.

Hoping against hope that the tabloids are talking the usual bollocks, but what a horrible thing if true. Scary and horrible for both the Jordans. What an absolutely stupid idea for a programme
