Very sorry to hear Ola has been injured and wish her a speedy recovery. As to the severity of her injuries, we should perhaps wait and see?

I remember a few years ago an actor had an accident on his way to work. According to the papers he was in hospital "fighting for his life with a severe head injury" - truth was he was kept in hospital overnight with a mild concussion! As said many times before, the papers never let the truth get in the way of a good story. So let's hope it is the same with Ola.

Her deciding to do The Jump is - in my opinion - quite crazy. Not just Ola, but anyone doing that show has to be a bit crazy. Awful show; it should be banned - but again that's just my opinion.

Dancers (and others) going skiing, horse riding, or whatever, is another matter. Accidents do happen of course, but providing people know their limitations, serious ones are relatively few. And such people can't be expected to live their lives wrapped in cotton wool.

Oh no poor Ola. She was on SCD IT2 the other night showing her rehearsing for tonight's pros show. So presumably she won't be there tonight .

Hope she has a quick recovery and the extent of the injuries arent as bad as reported.

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would do The Jump, let alone a professional dancer whose career is their legs. Its a dangerous show and basically playing Russian roulette with your career. Hopefully she was paid well - because otherwise, it seems an awfully big risk for two weeks on the tele.

Channel 4 confirming that Ola will not participate in The Jump due to injury confirms that it is a bad injury.

I'm hoping Ola recovers fully and that it is just the time required to recover that has resulted in her exclusion, although it may be that a full diagnosis cannot be made yet.

Jesus, what a horrible year for avoidable accidents.

That's awful news. Poor, poor Ola. I hope it's not as bad as it sounds, and that she recovers quickly and is able to dance again.

I echo the hopes that that it has been over exaggerated in the press, as that would very sad for a dancer (still dancing for jobs etc) to have their main trademark talent lost/decreased like that.

how awful, i thought James would be doing this rather than Ola

If she was training privately, then she would probably forfeit any money. If she was taking part in C4 training, then she would probably receive a reduced fee (I would be surprised if the contracts allowed for a full fee in the event of a total non-appearance).

Seems all a bit risky to take part in something like this under a contract where your body's health is the be all and end all.

It's horrible news to hear though and hope it's not something that puts her career into early retirement. Wishing her all the best.

It's in all the news media outlets now so guess that the fact that she is injured would appear to be the truth.
According to a friend who skis there it happened on Thursday morning and Ola is still in hospital so I think that in itself regretably means that there must be at least some truth in the severity of her injuries.
Hope she gets well soon.

Oh yikes, if she's still in hospital that suggests it's quite severe. Hopefully we'll hear more soon.

I can't imagine how she must be feeling, she's been dancing most of her life and to have that put at risk must be absolutely awful.

Really hoping Ola makes a speedy recovery - this is one time I want the press to be exagerating the facts

Some of the nastiness shown in this thread beggars belief. Most people don't go around making decisions and assume the worst is going to happen.

Ola has had a freak accident and from what has been reported, this has the potential to change her life/career.

How about a "Get well soon Ola!!" rather than nasty vitriol speculation?

I know it's only a minority of people in this thread and most are wishing her well

Get well soon Ola!!!

Have they mentioned it on the show?

Not mentioned Ola - they could wish her well.

I think everyone wishes her well and to recover quickly, but countless people got injured on the same program last year so for a professional dancer to risk their career on it is baffling. It's not a freak accident - more people got injured on it than got through it unscathed in the last series.

Skiing is so not worth the risk! It seems to cause far too many dangerous accidents and deaths that I'm amazed people keep on taking it up!

I'm not surprised Strictly did not wish her well considering the reason she was injured was due to training on a rival broadcaster's show. It would have been courtesy, and a sign of goodwill to do so, but I'm unsurprised.

They didn't mention Tristan being missing last week either.

Really hoping it's not career ending for her.

Im amazed there even is a season 2 of The Jump, almost everyone got injured last year. I wouldn't go near it. Hope she recovers quickly with no ill effects.
