How many people will come back for the final?
I was just thinking, how many people will they bring back for the final? Could it be as many as twelve?
I just thought of this because initially the finalists had three people each on their team. In Series 3 this was upped to four each - it wasn't explained, but that was the same series that the overall candidate number went up. In Young Apprentice, all the former candidates returned, presumably as there were less of them. Given that this series has twenty from the start, mathematically it would make sense to bring back twelve - six people on each team. Would that be too many? What do people think? And which people will be brought back? |

Think that the following people will come back:
- Katie - Felipe - Sanjay - Pamela - Lauren - James |

You think they'll go back to three people each? It has been four each since Series 3.
As long as Lauren makes a return appearance I'll be happy.

![]() In that case I would say: - Roisin - Mark - Daniel - Katie - Felipe - James - Sanjay - Lauren |

Some series the whole lot have came back to choose from. But six a side is probably more than enough. As long as Lauren makes a return appearance I'll be happy.
![]() Also, in the Series 1 example, Adele was not among the group of candidates they were allowed to pick from. Maybe she refused to come back - after all, there was no way they'd have picked her anyway. |

I think it very likely she refused. Actually I had a lot of sympathy for her, as being series 1, its quite likely the show wasn't what she had been led to believe and it was petty of SirAlun to sack her in the way he did.
She seemed pretty dislikable on the show, but they did explain that she had problems at home, with her grandma being ill and things, so her worry about that probably impacted a lot on both her task performance and her ability to get on with the others. Whenever I have seen interviews with her since, she has always seemed very pleasant. |

I think they'll probably stick with 4 team members on each team.
I think it'll be: 3 of Final 5 who where fired. Sarah Steven Katie Felipe James ^I think that would be ideal. We NEED Sarah and Steven back. |

They like to bring back a couple of the "difficult" candidates to see how the PMs will cope. However these supposedly difficult people usually end up working well as part of the team when there's no longer an individual return at stake for them. Which goes to show how competitive, individualist environments are actually detrimental to success in business. Good leaders sell the vision so people bond together to realise that vision rather than pit people against each other with the promise of individual gains such as the hope of promotion, investment or pay rises.

This year, there are eight people who are brought back to work with the two finalists. I know who seven of the eight are - they're visible in the "next time" preview at the end of the interview episode - but obviously I can't reveal their names as it includes at least two of the three candidates fired from the final five.

Of course, not necessarily everyone who goes next week will come back. We didn't see Katie, Lucinda, Stuart or Jordan again. Three of these people left with their heads under a cloud, but I don't know why Lucinda didn't come back. Perhaps she just didn't want to. And someone could have a disgraceful exit next week.

I've always assumed they look for a mix of some of the more credible candidates who fell late on, some 'characters' to spice things up and a couple of the quiet workers who will just get on with it. Don't know if that's true or not, but that's my perception, anyway.

I'd like them to go back to what they did in Series One, let the candidates choose from all the previous people.

It's an interesting point but I guess maybe that isn't always possible. Some candidates may have moved on to new jobs and no longer be available, while others might refuse to participate. (Or is it written into their contracts that they should make themselves available if asked? I don't know.)

I wonder how they handled it in Series 1 though? They brought back eleven of the twelve candidates. They couldn't all have been contracted to appear, because Adele wasn't there. Maybe they agreed to waive her obligation. Alternatively, were they not contracted and just lucky that everyone bar one person agreed? Or was Adele simply not invited back due to the manner in which she left?

Stuart Baggs and Jordan Poulton didn't come back for their respective finals, either - presumably because their dismissals were fairly undignified, so it would've seemed a bit weird if they'd turned up three days later like nothing had happened.
Katie Bloody Hopkins left and didn't come back, too, so I wonder if it's a production choice. Spares Lord Sugar from having to make chit-chat with a candidate who turned him down. The show sort of lives or dies on the the conceit that Lord Sugar is the authority, a great business mind and his job is the ultimate prestige - having a candidate among the ranks who has openly gone, "Nah, not worth it," sort of pokes a hole in the wall. You need people who basically respect him as senior. |

I'm not saying that's the only reason people don't come back - but Lucinda, in fairness, admitted she didn't need the job in about as many words.
