Why do those who have been fired leave with a winter coat, gloves, scarf etc when it is obviously the summer?!

The reason is so that you cannot tell what they are wearing. The scenes of them walking to the car are not genuine. All are filmed before the series starts. In fact, the building that they walk out of isn't even where the boardroom is. Therefore, there would be an obvious discrepancy between what the candidate was wearing in the boardroom and what they were wearing when they left, so they all wear something on top.

There was an episode of Series 1 where this was obvious. In the boardroom, Adele had her hair up, then when she left the building it was loose. Then in her taxi interview it was up again.

You know how the Christmas episode of Eastenders is filmed a couple of months in advance?

Yeah, that.

Aah! That would explain it! I didn't watch the earlier series so hadn't seen such discrepancies! Cheers for clearing up my puzzle!

You do know that it's all filmed months in advance and the results are kept secret... right?

Yes.

That still doesn't explain WHY the need to pretend it's winter! As I said before, it's not fiction, therefore it doesn't need to pretend to be a certain time of year.

I think George had a good explaination though, thanks George!

No worries. And I recommend the early series, if you're interested. They're on YouTube.
