The ban PLT website has upgraded for 2014 with a new EU petition which we should all sign.
Note Norway has been added to countries banning some PLT products.

Why should we all sign it?.....I'll leave it to you and the other few idiots who will sign it.....I think every petition on the subject has been massively ignored - as it should be.
Looks like that petition has been up in Europe since march and is struggling along.....Still under 10,000, which for a Eurowide petition is pathetic.

Isn't this a "bolting the stable door after the horse has bolted" type scenario. Even more so in this case as the horse has long since turned up in boxes of burgers in Tesco's freezers and the stable demolished to make way for a development of "luxury apartments"

I seriously doubt this petition will achieve anything.

The amateur radio users do have a point in that the PLT devices may be interfering with their use of their licenced spectrum, which isn't much different to someone firing up a transmitter and deliberately interfering.

Not sure how practical a ban could ever be though, people aren't going to unplug the equipment they've paid for unless there's something forcing them to (like an Ofcom heavy in their house) or there being some refund scheme.

Personally I won't ever use the things, I've never been impressed with the performance and I'd rather find a way to make WiFi work or a way to run cat5 - cheaper too and guaranteed gigabit is much nicer than 50Mbit, maybe if the wind is blowing in the right direction

If you have interference from amateur radio you can contact Ofcom and if the amateur is at fault he will be taken off air. If you have poor equipment that overloads in the presence of strong signals they won't help of course, you will need to contact the retailer that sold you the poor gear. Same applies to interference from a local PMR user.

Homeplugs on the other hand deliberatly transmit on other peoples allocations, there is no spectrum allocation for them. If you read my origional link you will see many of them do not even conform to the specifications, i.e. They are not legal.

In national emergencies like 911 telephones and mobiles do and did fail. HF radio was the only communications means.
