A lot of dragging your partner across the floor . What has this got to do with dancing .

Queer sort of rumba, I'd give it a generous 7 .

All these high marks given out by the judges near the end of the competition are just a joke . It's as if they feel they must be giving high marks to the couples just because they've reached the later stages .

I think all the celebs are great but lets not try and fool them and the audience by thinking they've achieved perfection with 10s .

It was my favourite dance of the evening, so Bruno's comments (and mark) seemed appropriate to me. For those who liked it, it seems to have created a special magic - and I think it brought out something new and moving in Frankie.

I thought it was quite charming, but barely a Rhumba, if the dance exists anymore, of course.

She got put on her arse awfully hard at one point, and the floor drag produced a bit of hysterical giggling from me.

Eight. As it's the semi. Seven would be fine too, mixture of both perhaps.

I like Frankie, but it was never a 10. But in the context of last night's marking, it didn't surprise me. I thought an 8, with a 9 for her AT would have been about right. But I suppose it wasn't much more ridiculous than a perfect score for Caroline's Salsa..another 9 in my opinion.

Almost correct! Should have read:

Bruno said it was a 10, and he is the one paid to give that opinion.

Why say that? Just because someone criticises Frankie's dance does not make them a Caroline fan. How utterly ridiculous and a totally uncalled-for, unfair and unproven generalisation. And as you now know, strictly-fan is a rabid Pixie supporter anyway.

As a Caroline fan who has supported her from day one, I have to say I loved Frankie's rumba; possibly BECAUSE it wasn't like a rumba!!!! I loathe the rumba. Honestly loathe it. I have never seen one that I liked (with the exception of Caroline's and Pasha's and maybe one more, but I can't remember the couple).

Frankie's was charming, sweet and I really enjoyed it. Was it a 'proper rumba'? No. And so I loved it because of that!!!!

Pffftt compare that to Kara and Artem's Rumba...sorry but no Frankie's Rumba did not deserve a 10.

Okay so it wasn't a traditional rumba but surely Kevin is to blame for that not Frankie. As Len had pointed out, though it was hardly his fault either. The music was not right for a traditional rumba and Kevin had to work around that and I thought what he did come up with was very creative dance which Frankie danced beautifully, I loved the way she managed to move keeping the doll posture.

The question is should Frankie be marked down because someone else made a mistake with the music and Kevin couldn't find a way to put proper rumba moves in it?

I agree, Frankie did what was asked of her and did it beautifully and should be marked accordingly.

Admittedly I'm no expert, but if I hadn't been told it was a rumba, I wouldn't have known it was one.

And I'd never have worked out that Caroline's dance was a foxtrot either, but then her music didn't exactly help either.

I agree....but then a rumba can be whatever you want it to be.... apparently,...... anyway it has obviously gone down a storm, but like you, the BIB had me laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of it....in a John Sargentesque kind of way ......
I await the 'interpretation' that has a female being dragged across the floor by her nose and fully expect a straight set of 10's and an audience in raptures.

It was my favourite dance of the night. Even Tess got that the stiffness was part of the character of a doll coming to life. It had precision, emotion and romance.

Frankie is overmarked every week. She is sickly sweet and very dull to watch. She was the person i least wanted in the final.

But presumably there are some basic rumba steps,as there are some fundamental steps/moves in the other dances, that should have been used?

I thought it was different and charming, but like some other posters, I wouldn't have known what dance it was meant to be just from looking at it.
[Actually I was a bit relieved - I wasn't looking forward to watching Kevin trying to do sexy!]

Very difficult to do pure rumba to that music as a dance to that piece for me it was ok it had enough recognisable bits of rumba in it - but the sooner they rectify music choices the better

She probably got it because she could relate to it

This is really the point. A lot of Saturday's music was nonsensical and neither Rumba tune really suited the dance in its pure form, which is why you ended up with Kevin and Karen taking alternative approaches.

We though the "Somewhere Only We Know" dance picked up nicely on the slightly "music-box" musical arrangement.

I'm not sure it was a 10 but it was good.

I think they probably could have made it a bit more rumba-esque even though the music wasn't really suitable. What I am not sure about is who decides on the actual theming of the dance, ie the costumes, the setting and thus what the dance ends up looking like - does the setting inform the dance or is it the other way around?

Karen and Mark, I admit to my untrained eye, made it look a bit more like a rumba to me, just in terms of it being a bit more flowing (Karen's negligee aside!).

I think Karen is a also bit less worried about connecting with Mark in that way as well, than Kevin is with Frankie (though I think it's more Frankie that is worried about it anyway). Neither song was desperately suitable though, I agree.

The stiffness was necessary due to her doll interpretation, lol. But I quite liked it. I don't think the rumba should be so lacking in sex appeal, though.
