Best low/midprice phone?
I had my phone lost or stolen in a clothes shop the other day. I'd been using a Nokia Lumia 520 for about a year, and was reasonably happy with it. The only real downside was that the camera was pretty crap, with mediocre at best picture quality and not being good for selfies as it faced the wrong way and generally wouldn't prevent shaking very well or take a picture quickly and precisely.
I don't use many minutes at all and only really used the phone as a glorified mp3 player, texter, mobile browsing device (used up to 2gb downloading per month and it was very good for this generally) and occasional camera. Based on that criteria, what would be the best shout? I've been looking at the recent moto g around £150 and the samsung mini reduce to about the same price. What about other Nokia models? |

You can get the S4 Mini for around £120 in Three just now, if memory serves. Of course whether you want to be on Three or not is a different matter.
Compared to the Moto G, the S4 Mini has a better camera but a lower-res screen. I think processing power is probably fairly similar, maybe slightly in favour of the Moto G but I doubt there'll be a huge difference. Also, depending which version of the Moto G you're comparing it to, the S4 Mini is a 4G handset and has a memory card slot. In terms of the Lumias, the 530 is a good buy, it was as low as £15 in CPW at one point but I think it's gone back up. The 630 and 635 also seem to be good handsets but for the life of me, apart from the 635 being a 4G handset, I don't know what the differences are between them all. The Lumia 735 gives you a bigger screen and better camera and is probably in your price range too, albeit towards the top of it. Huawei are probably worth a look too, as well as the Sony Xperia M2. |

Did you know about the "Find my phone" feature - did you try to track down your lumia using the website?
The Moto G is a good handset at the price but the 635 and 7xx are great too. If you get another lumia then it will be easier as your contacts will come back automatically as will your text messages and things and you will be more familiar with Windows Phone than Android. |

The Lumia 530 is hugely shite. Avoid it even if they offer you £15 to take it away. I have one in the house so I can comment from experience.
The Lumia 630 would be a nice upgrade from the 520. Also consider the Moto E. These two phones will offer a decent experience well below £100. |
