I would like to backup recordings made on a USB hard disk attached my Panasonic TX-P50G20 plasma tv to a SD card to eventually transfer them to a DVD. Any suggestions how this can be done? If indeed it is possible.

I also have a Panasonic DVD/HD recorder and a TF5810 attached to the tv but I have failed to get either of them to receive the output from the tv.

The recordings made to the hard drive are encrypted in such a way they can only be played back on the actually TV that made them (not even another identical TV model will play them). So that makes it next to impossible to copy the recordings off to DVD as you propose.

Not sure what you mean by "receive output from the TV". The Topfield TF5810 can only record from it's built in tuners so can't record any signal output by the TV regardless of what output may be available.

The DVD recorder may be able to record from SCART if the TV has a SCART wired for output. However a lot depends on what may be output from the SCART on the TV. It seems quite common for the tuner output to be connected to the SCART. Less common is for any signal the TV happens to be watching to be output.

So you might be able to feed whatever TV channel the TV is tuned to but not, for example, play back a recording on the hard disk and feed that to your DVD recorder.
