HDMI Splitter

Hello,

Could anyone reccommend a splitter that will do the following:

Basically I have a TV at one side of the room, and I want to keep my xbox, sky box and DVD player at the other side of the room. I want to be able to run one long HDMI accross the skirting board to where the three devices are and use some sort of splitter to connect the three of them into it.

Is this at all possible, or is it more hassle? if possible could you reccommend me a cheap one that would do the trick, on ebay or something?

Thank you,

Tim

I would have thought the word "splitter" would have given you a clue that it is NOT the device you want. A splitter takes one output and splits it to several inputs. Which is the exact opposite of what you want which is to take several outputs into one input.

For that you need a switch. And an automatic switch as well unless you want to get up and press a button each time you want to change source. Or you could get a remote controlled one if you can see the switch. For example

Bought one of these for work and it is surprisingly OK considering the price.

This is what I bought

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...ilpage_o04_s00

Comes direct from China. Does the job either automatically or via a button on the unit to switch inputs.

used to use a 3 way hdmi switch, as my tv at the time only had a single HDMI socket. The one I had was remote control which made things a lot easier.

OTT solution is to buy a fancy AV amp/receiver with surround sound..... bung that near your boxes, connect boxes to 3 HDMI inputs on receiver which will output via 1 HDMI to your TV. As I say, it's OTT but if you've ever considered getting a big home cinema speaker set up this could be the little thing that nudges you to taking the plunge.

Maybe you can find the right product on Amazon. I always buy electronics there.
