James Jordan also made it clear that the BBC is involved in the negotiations over who does the tour. He said the BBC had asked Steve to do the tour without Ola, not Stage Entertainments had asked Steve to do the tour without Ola.

They sell the franchise, take a cut of the profits and oversee all creative and other aspects of the tour to ensure the BBC and Strictly are being properly represented. They do this with all their franchises. Think of it like an executive producer's role - not involved with the day-to-day running and logistics but there to oversee and sign-off on all important decisions.

James isn't the most reliable narrator though. He's had a tour sized chip on his shoulder for a few years.

I have worked on the tours of other BBC franchised shows and the BBC most definitely is involved in them. The BBC are very protective of their brand name and franchises and oversee all creative content to ensure their shows are being properly represented. On the shows I have worked on the BBC had to sign off on all creative content, they had to approve of all venues, they had to approve of all the content in the programmes, they had to approve of all merchandise to be sold. Although there is another company organising the live shows the tour represents the Strictly brand, provides excellent cross-promotion for the television show and also makes money for the BBC. If you look on the website the BBC logo is there alongside the other two companies involved in the tour.

I'm not saying the BBC fixes the phone vote (that would be ridiculous) but the negotiations for the celebs to go on the tour begin once voting figures have been established so the parties involved have a good idea how things are going. The companies involved of course want the best chance of ensuring the winner is on the tour so it would be strange for them not to request that the passage of the tour celebs is eased to the final when the franchise deal is haggled out and of course there are ways that the BBC can help this. Jake was at the bottom of the leaderboard last night (perhaps deservedly so) and for the first time this series there were no ties on the leaderboard meaning, even if he was high in the public vote, he was going to struggle to avoid the dance-off. They also have the dance-off and the judges' vote to ensure the producers get the final say. We also know that creative decisions plus things like running order (especially when the phone vote opens during the actual final) can have an effect on the vote.

I'm not saying the show is definitely biased in the tour's favour but we do have to ask ourselves how, after its inaugural year, the tour has had the amazing luck to sign up all the winners and many of the finalists without a crystal ball.”

There is no way the company that pays a lot of money for the Strictly franchise isn't going to want the winner of each series on the tour and, although the BBC can't absolutely fix it so this happens, they can give them the best fighting odds.”

Thanks for this input. The manipulation has been blatant the last couple of weeks.

His response would have always been a resounding "no"....even if he had the chance to swap dance partners

Yes, it's pretty suspicious that two weeks running he voted to keep the person who danced better in the dance off. Has he ever done that before?

I think with Pixie people just though she was safe and more people decide to vote for Frankie as she was suddenly near the bottom..

But the actual dance off with the people who have gone out in the last 3 weeks.

I think have been down to really who Len likes! Rather then who danced the better.”

No, the bbc would never fix anything.

I got suspicious in series 9 when all the Pros who had their own shows, so did not tour, all got eliminated in the first few weeks.
Rory Bremner (with Erin) got eliminated in a dance-off with Nancy !!
(OK Nancy did do the tour with Artem as the comedy turn but that wa sthe second year running Anton's comedy partner toured without him)

Natalie Lowe went a bit early - but she had Audley Harrison who was shockingly bad, and Katya ended up doing the tour as a replacement for Ola, as Craig cut the Jordans because Alex Jones did not tour.

There wasn't a dance-off in Series 9. Although the idea of Nancy surviving two of them sustains me.

My mistake, but it was a complete shock as he was one of the biggest names taking part that year.

I also think the lineup for this years Tour is pretty pants.

No Len or Bruno - adding Camilla and Tom Chambers as judges !!!

No Pascha - so if Caroline wins the winning couple will not tour - although Flavia did not tour with Louis, but his personality was big enough to compensate (signing autographs around the arena at the end, posing for pictures etc)

Hardly a stellar lineup apart from the Final Four.
They usually get a favourite from previous years who could not tour at the time
(RIcky Whittle, Mark Foster, Phill Tufnell, Nicky Byrne etc)

This year it is just, Alison Hammond, Thom Evans and - horror of horrors ...Scott Mills.

Not exactly going to put bums on seats.

I went to several Tour shows, but missed last year as they jacked the prices up.
Also the standout (most entertaining showbizzy) dances of the series will be missing - Jakes Salsa and Samba, anything by Pixie and Trent

Last year's memorable dances were Mark Benton's MC Hammer, Susanna's Paso, anything by Natalie and Artem - all on the Tour.

It always amazes me that conspiracy theories like this keep cropping up - I would have thought people would have the sense to look at the simple facts, which are these.

1. The judges' scoring cannot completely influence the result each week.
2. The public vote can completely influence the result, as it takes preference.
3. If your favourite ends up in the dance off, it's because you and their other fans didn't vote enough.
4. If your favourite ends up in the dance off then they're at risk of going out, so the dance-off is relatively unimportant in comparison to getting enough votes to stay out of it.
5. Only Craig has anything to do with the tour, and he wanted to save Pixie last week.

I love the innocence of some of our forum members, they are so sweet and gullible.

to think that this show is not manipulated is really naive.

I think that it's just a coincidence. Why do people always think that there is a conspiracy?!

There are four finalists so the celebrities who aren't doing the tour could have still made the final, if they had received the votes.

Also, a lot of people including myself, are just going to the tour because we want to see our favourite couple, even if they don't win. I couldn't care less if the winner is on the tour or not.

We all know it is manipulated to some extent but some of you make out that the public vote counts for absolutely nothing and that it is the BBC and the judges that decide each week who goes and who stays. If that is the case then why the heck do you even watch it

Some of us are just watching for some light entertainment and don't really take it all that seriously but this forum gets bogged down with conspiracy theories every week just because someone was voted off that that particular OP didn't want to be voted off. What's the point because every week there is going to be someone voted off that is SOMEONE's favoured contestant. It's life, not everyone can win so why does this happen every week?
Serenity.

I know there is such thing as a coincidence, but this is somewhat of a remarkable one!”

Given that whenever a non-tourer was up against a tourer in the dance-off the person on the tour won through to the next round it looks more than a coincidence.

Once - maybe.

Twice - suspicious.

Three times - it's a fix!
