After taking a quick glance at twitter and tumblr, most of the fans seem to either be questioning who he is, berating him for ruining their performance, or going insane because Harry wore a shirt with flamingos on it.
I actually liked it 1D have tidied themselves up a bit and I like when they do high energy poppy stuff rather than slow numbers. Ronnie looked happy enough to be there!

You should educate her he's from a credible band who write their own songs and play their own instruments unlike 1d
well even with Ronnie Wood playing I just don't think they are all that good and certainly would never pay to see them but I am not a teenager so most modern music is not my scene.

One Direction do write songs for themselves, and for others. They also play instruments, well I know 4/5 do, not sure about Zayn. They are a different type of band, as such shouldbe judged on what they do live and in the studio, not what doesn't fit with their style.
They write and singing live is their main work. At least they don't all dress alike doing synchronised dance routines. No covers either live or on albums.
I am far from a teenager, but I don't have a closed mind and have seen them live. 1D know who Ron Wood is, they have been to Rolling Stones concerts and Harry been spotted drinking with Mick Jagger.
I recall being a George Michael fan suffering all the same put downs 1D likers get now.

They are crap live so I wouldn't judge them by that and they don't write their own songs maybe the odd line but that's it , and if they play their own instruments why don't they then on their songs ?

They are far from crap live but it wouldn't matter what they were to do for those prejudiced against them.
There are many legiondary performers over the years not known for their song writing or instrument playing. Instruments are rather restrictive on stage.
