Nimrod the cat I took in few years back has gone missing, I saw him at about midnight last night before I went home and haven't seen him since. He came into the hotel where my office is based one day and has stayed ever since, he is always there when I arrive in the morning coming down from the shelf for a cuddle and at night he always wants to follow me home ( just over the other side of the street ) and even comes up as far as the flat door but then wants to go out again as he is scare of my two cats . I then watch as he goes back over to the hotel

His old owner never comes to see him any more as he just runs away from her, he has a collar and tag , which now worries me a bit as he came home twice recently missing his collar which was a safety release one and I put a spare on him which isn't a safety one whilst I get a new batch and hope he is not caught up somewhere

I never knew how worried I would be as he is so lovely and I miss his cuddling and helping me with my work already ( by helping I mean laying on my paperwork) and it is just not like him, whilst I could not make him an indoor cat as he was an outdoor one he never went very far at all just close to the hotel

This is a pic of him in an old post of mine ( Nimrod is on the left ) and am hoping he will reappear as I am worried about him , if not I will make some calls tomorrow

It is always possible ( but each occasion the collar was missing before he had not been out for long so he wasn't being kept in by someone I don't think ) but he is a noisy little sod so if he didn't want to be there he would soon drive you up the wall with his moaning to get out , unless he is happy that is. I did register him on Cat Aware and they create the flyer for you so if he hasn't turned up by morning I will put a couple of posters on the lampposts and some flyers through the doors in the street . I just hope no one took him as he is a handsome chap which people always comment on.

My cat went missing almost 24 hours once and I feared worst but she eventually turned up.

My neighbours cat was always going missing and then turning up.

I think male cats tend to wander more.

Hope he turns up. My cat went missing a few years ago for one day, after never being away for more than a couple of hours. I was worried sick and incredibly relieved when he turned up again. If you're thinking about making signs to post around the neighbourhood - I'd urge you to do it as early as possible for maximum effect.

Side note: I'm sure there's a fortune out there for someone who designs a cheap collar that can use Wi-Fi/GPS to triangulate missing pets in the same way as Find My Phone apps.

Well I have had a walk round the local streets and up to the cemetery but no sign of him, I will check again in the morning

He has just reappeared, I went to the flat and was just getting into bed and one of the Night Receptionists phoned me to say he was meowing at the front door but had been hesitant to come in which is odd for him. I chucked on some clothes and popped back over and he was sitting near his food bowl but when I went to go to stroke him he shied away like he was afraid someone was going to hit him the receptionist said he did the same with him ! bizarre as no one here has ever hurt him and he always follows me around, the staff call him my stalker.

Anyway fed him and he had a bit and then he did come and sit on my desk and have a few treat biscuits, he let me give him a stroke and a cuddle but not purring yet and now he has had a drink of water and is sitting on a chair cleaning himself, he did feel a bit dusty and gritty.

Just glad he is back home even if he does seem a bit off sorts right now.

Glad he's back. Seems he's had a bit of a scare - may've been shut in a garage or shed overnight. Hopefully no-one was abusing him

Glad he's back and not too worse for wear. I agree he probably got shit in somewhere, he'll settle down, now he's home.

He is more back to normal this morning, when I got into the office he came down from the shelf where he likes to sleep ( I put a blanket up there for him as he likes it ) and gave me a nuzzle and is purring gain, but he is staying inside and doesn't seem to want to go much further than the front door so he had a scare of some sorts, just so pleased he came back in one piece, I know he wasn't mine originally but having looked after him for three years, had him lieing on my desk every day and following me around and taken him to the vets for his jabs and paid for his op he had to have etc he feels like mine .
