Did anyone else think it was weird how (when Cowell appeared on stage) Ben was sort of pushed behind Dermot, who was facing Fleur with Cowell standing beside her. It was as if Fleur had won. Cowell even talked about the runner up first, before saying how great a guy Ben was, as if he was somehow a consolation prize. Even in the moment of victory Cowell still overshadowed Ben with Fleur.

Fleur was the best overall and the best female performer by far. Haenow wasn't remotely close to being the best male performer or singer.

Fleur should have picked showstoppers for last night, something by the Supremes/Diana Ross or Tina Turner maybe....."Simply the best" would have done. Old as these are, they're still popular, particularly with the older generations.

The next step is to use Parrot Louie to make it clear who actually is the winner. He usually lets the cat out of the bag at what Herr Scowell's real intentions are.

Seen it all before.

By last night, he really didn't care - he knew what the result was going to be so said what he wanted to without having to worry about the consequences.”

Well, of course he wanted Fleur to get to the final two, he was afterall her mentor. It's no different to when he had in his category Leona Lewis and Ray Quinn as the final two. The other judges would have been just the same if it were their acts.

I agree. It was too soon after last week and the wow factor was missing. It was a case of 'oh, that again'. Plus now more people have heard the original than last week so it wasn't new and fresh any more

Totally agree. Given that it was (seen by many) as so amazeballs last week, then doing it again especially the week after was never going to be as good. As the old saying goes, always leave them wanting more. Plus the backing track that was so evident on the first rendition was even more evident last night.

There's a difference in supporting your acts, pushing them to go to the end and manipulating the public into doing so. I didn't see any of Simon's previous acts getting the same treatment as Fleur got - even his acts in this series didn't get the treatment Fleur got.

Despite being the chosen one, she was still my favourite, but I can acknowledge that she was pushed by the show... and I think the reason they made it so obvious (not that anything isn't obvious with this show any more) is because they knew she couldn't/wouldn't beat Ben, so had nothing to lose by hyping her up and trying to get her to second place.

That sounds like I don't believe she could've got to second place on her own merit, but I do... the show didn't take that chance, though, and decided to try and take as much control as possible over the result.
