But according to that site over the course of the series Fleur was the one being pushed, so why in the main event, the final, would the producers stop pushing Fleur and show Ben in a good light? What a load of bollocks

You can only do so much and the result still paid off, just because she didn't win won't stop Simon saying she was good and finished second! It doesn't change the fact she was dragged to the final!

All the pimping dragged Fleur from being a no chancer. By the time people realised just how aggressive it was, they started to get annoyed and voted against the Scowell propaganda.

I agree with this. The pushing for Fleur became too apparent at the end and probably worked against her. If you look at the voting stats, she was not too far off Ben when the serious pushing for her started, but then the gap just widened the more Simon pushed her forward. People started really noticing the favourable treatment of her. There were several articles about it in the press, it was being talked about on FB and Twitter, and even Ben, Lauren and Andrea had to do an interview saying that it wasn't true that Fleur was being favoured. X Factor forgot that manipulation works best when it is subtle. They also forgot that the public don't like perceived unfairness and will generally prefer to support an underdog.

Laughed at the bit suggesting the Final was like Soviet-era propaganda. I have stated that myself before. I've witnessed it.

"Look at how hard Fleurinka has worked for the Soviet Party ahem X Factor party and is loyal to Scowellaski !" Just like Oleg Murs, etc.

Putin will be calling on Scowell for tips next as I understand there is a return to such tactics in Russia.

NA ZDOROWIE!

Totally agree. There's nothing subtle about Cowell introducing Fleur on Saturday with 'This is the big one', and having the pro (Labrinth) introduce Fleur rather than the contestant introduce the pro.

A lot of the media is still saying it was a shock win by Ben over the 'hot favourite' Fleur when it was anything but.

He beat her every week in the voting and, apart from a few days last week, always had better odds to win than her so the spin is still continuing even after the thing is over

I don't think Scowell forgot. I really believe he is at such a heightened opinion of his own power and control (like many dictators) that he believes his public will let him get away with anything. It has happened before and it is happening again on 21st century reality TV. It is actually extraordinary to witness.

Luckily, in a democracy where people get to vote, dictators can be reminded that they cannot always get people to bend to their will every once in a while - especially when it's the dictator himself that provides access to five free votes per mobile device
