landing on their backsides . What is the significance

A lot of the dances on SCD has them landing on their backsides or polishing the floor . What is the significance of this move ? I don't see it as part of any dance lesson no matter what the dance .

I think it looks so ugly and ruins any dance .

It's the prelude to a wonderful union

Don't they do that at the schools you go to

Frankie did a very long floor polish at the end of her rumba.

She was wearing a light coloured dress too.

I was wondering about the state of her knickers afterwards. They must pick up a lot of dirt doing that; don't they? .

it wastes about 2-10 seconds depending on the length of the floor polish - its for when the pros aren't sure what to put into the choreography next

The thing is i'm sure most of the viewers know by now the time wasting gimmicks the pros get up to . I noticed also a lot of carrying of the partner creeping into SCD .

If they didn't stay in contact with the floor, it might be considered a lift. Once upon a time there was such a thing as an illegal lift - which could be punished. Len hinted that such draconian measures might be permitted again in the semi-final, but it seems Louise was just teasing him.

But how about they stay on their feet to finish a dance instead of dropping on their backsides . It's not part of any latin or ballroom dance .

If they're not throwing them about then they'd have to move their legs and get shown up.
These days Strictly has more in common with Geoff Capes and the highland caber toss. And I'm not talking about the strappy 3 inch heels.*
(* this was quite a sight)
