To freshen it up a bit do you think it would work if the public picked the judges catergories?

They could do a poll on there app similar to when you choose song choices and this way rather then judges like cheryl being given the same catergory they will get to try something new

If Cheryl comes back - I'd love to see her with the Groups or the overs.....

She always gets the boys or the girls.

The public get to pick nothing, it would just be another twist with SYCO still in charge regardless of who's mentoring who.

That would definitely freshen it up a bit. Give the viewers more control. In Pop Idol didn't we get a say in who went through to the live shows? They call the audience the fifth judge but we only get 12 people to judge from. We should at least be allowed to pick one person from each category. And yes maybe we should get to pick who gets which category too.

why does it matter who has each category , its not like the judges actually contribute much as a mentor , its all just for show

Because it makes it boring when the judges get the same catergory

I would say in the grand scheme of things that is very low down the list of things the show has to worry about

Next year, I would like to see Cheryl with the groups. Simon with the boys.Louis with the overs and Mel B with the girls.

Nope for me its

Louis - Girls(only catergory he is yet to have)
Tulisa (if she gets the job) - Boys
Simon - Boys (if tulisa isnt a judge) or Groups
Mel B (if she is still a judge) - Groups
Cheryl - Overs

How about, instead of wild cards, an extra 'audience' category? Who went through to the lives and song choices could be up to a public vote.

Why do they have to have a genre?

Why not just 4 contestants?

They could keep the judges house part, whereby each judge chooses 3 or 4 from one category, but then they get a selection of contestants from across the board.

They could either pick out of a hat or choose one by one or something similar.

Thx for guaranteeing a last place finish for the girls if that happens... Louis has 0 passion for mentoring the girls...I also think the girls should stick with a female judge...more in common and girls need someone relatable to them...

If Louis is incapable of mentoring the Girls catgeory he should not be asked back, what is the point of him if he can barely get an act into the final, give any decent advice and is unable to mentor one of the catgeories.

Well if he wants to give the show a few more years than it currently has he needs to find another puppet.

Better still let the public choose the judges, and who leaves each week.

One of the female judges needs to have the Groups next year:

Series 1: Louis
Series 2: Simon
Series 3: Louis
Series 4: Simon
Series 5: Louis
Series 6: Louis
Series 7: Simon
Series 8: Tulisa
Series 9: Louis
Series 10: Gary
Series 11: Simon

How repetitive is that? I don't know why Sharon was never given the Groups back in the show's prime. Also, Nicole, Cheryl and Mel have all been a part of hugely successful girl-groups so I don't see why they couldn't mentor the category. The first time the category wasn't given to either Louis or Simon, a Group won.

Also the category subject brings to the forefront the main problem with Louis. He is not in touch with today's music industry. He has even admitted in the past that he hates managing girls. A judge who can't mentor one of the categories shouldn't be on the panel.

Exactly what I'm trying to say...Louis does not well with females...giving him the girls is the best recipe for them absolutely coming in last....aren't girls supposed too "high maintenance"... At least according to Louis...if they are, that's why they keep giving the girls to female judges, they are girls, so they know how to manage girls and can relate to them as girls...the same does not exactly for boys ...it seems that way anyways...

Well in recent years, that method has backfired.

Well...i don't think the judge is the problem...I think its the category itself that had a few problems...the judge has very little effect on who actually wins..Louis would do a lot worst as he does not even want to work with them...
