No or bad connection: Foxsat PVR and TV
goggled
16-12-2014
Of late, if I turn on the TV and PVR, "no or bad connection" appears on screen for a brief moment, after which all is well. However, should I have only turned off the TV and left the PVR on and turn on the TV with the PVR timer visible ( just before a scheduled recording is to commence) nothing seems to remove the warning, including changing and restoring TV source, or powering off/on at the wall.

What suggestions can anyone give. please?

What happens if you put the Foxsat into standby briefly then back on when this happens?

It sounds like you have the two connected via HDMI and there is some handshaking problem occurring. This can happen if the exact sequence of taking the various devices out of standby is not followed precisely In theory it ought not to matter whether the TV is on first or last or whatever combination of on and standby the two bits of kit are in. In practice however it can make a difference.

With my Foxsat HDR if it is in recording standby then I need to turn it fully on before changing source on the TV to it for handshaking to work. Not quite the problem the OP has however.

Update

I found too that a number of recordings had failed completely, not what happens from time to time that the recording is said to have failed but is there in its entirety usually when a recording finishes as another starts.

Now, today, there is "no or bad signal" on all channels, but the channels name always shows in the Foxsat+. Straw clutching, I thought to reinstall via Foxsat menu function, but rather than being pointed to menu options it directed me to the TV set (Viera Link, Picture, Sound etc.

Even more puzzling! More comments?

At a guess you have the Foxsat remote set to control the TV. Which of the white buttons flashes red when you press any button ? If not the pvr then press the white pvr button.

Re handshake issues when booting from pre-recording sby (15 mins before a recording is due to start) or during recording try the following.

Firstly make sure the hdmi cable is fully seated at each ends with the TV and Foxsat in sby.. Remove and replace firmly each plug (this can remove bad connections due to corrosion).

Cycle through the v-format options on the box, the change of output resolution will force a HDCP renegotiation.

Select a different input on the TV and then go back to the Foxsat input.

If you connect a scart cable in addition to the hdmi does selecting the scart input restore video and audio on the TV ?

No signal is usually a dish alignment or coax cable issue (perhaps water in the cables).
