I've never been a believer in saying a true fan wouldn't do this or do that. There are different kinds of fans. And some of these songs aren't going to be on the final album so some of these songs otherwise I would never have gotten to chance to hear. I just love her music and her voice so much I just couldn't resist listening!
With illegal downloading, the way I deal with it is this. I do illegally download but if I really love something I will go out and buy it when it's officially released. If I download something illegally and I hate it, I usually just delete it because I do feel guilty about getting something for free and keeping it forever.”

I understand the need to want to listen to a favourite artists material, and I know fans will also buy the official release, but perhaps should wait until it is released then seek out the demo versions or songs you know are never going to be released. But probably what I find harder to understand (I don't know if you are one of these fans) the person who leaked the material gets criticized by fans, then those fans go out and seek the material which makes them just as bad or actually worse then the person who leaked it.

I have resisted listening to the leaks but now that some the tracks are available on iTunes its all good. I think it's a good retaliation strategy on her part. I just hope it didn't stuff up the lead single campaign though. Please please make Living for Love the lead single!

Quote from her OFFICIAL website:

"I was hoping to release my new single 'Living For Love' on Valentine's Day with the rest of the album coming in the Spring. I would prefer my fans to hear completed versions of some of the songs instead of the incomplete tracks that are circulating. Please consider these six songs as an early Christmas gift," commented Madonna.

So Living for Love IS the Lead single which is weird cos it's part of the initial 6 song download, at least in Australia. I have it now, very 90's house references...Almost reminds me of Hadaways What is Love...and dare I say it ..a bit Kieza???

What is a true fan anyway?
The person who did wrong was the one who stole the songs and broke the law by leaking it.

Listening to rough cuts of their fav artists hardly makes them less of a fan. I always listen to demo's or unreleased songs of my fav artists. If anything, it means fans are open minded to listen to what an album sounds like before putting the finishing touches and to compare what these versions are like to the eventual finished versions.

Just out of interest, how different are the official tracks to the leaks?

Devil Pray is infinitely better than the demo, a really good tune. Illuminati has been slowed down and is more dubsteppy and not as good as the demo. The bitch songs are pretty identical except for a Nicki Minaj rap. Ghosttown is a beautiful ballad that would shine on Something To Remember. Living For Love is an improvement on the demo

Pretty much this. There is almost something tarantinoish about Devil Pray...It REALLY reminds me of a track from one of his movies..I can't quite place it. Living for Love is a bit more soulful with the gospelish backing vocals.

Ghost Town is stunning though and by far the best of the 6 tracks.

As are the people who downloaded it, if not they are possibly worse or at least equally as wrong as the one who leaked it.
