Madonna's album leak HAS to be staged/stunt.
I'm sorry but how can the "queen of pop" not be properly protected from stuff like this? It's just too coincidental. I'm not saying she physically sat at her PC (can she use one?
) and uploaded her own album to zippyshare BUT after the mixed reviews on MDNA and some people dubbing it the worst album of her career, maybe she wants to be cautious regarding this.I.e. the tracks people do like, will feature on the finished album in a non-demo form, whilst other new songs are recorded. I don't believe none of this! Having said that, if you're a Madonna fan, this is probably a good day for you so enjoy! |

I've just seen some hilarious fanfic on twitter
![]() : Madonna has a flashback to leaving her album on a floppy disc at the gym. She demands to speak to whoever is in charge of the Internet. : Madonna opens a zippyshare link to her new album, she clicks the wrong download button and receives a virus. |

I don't get why it would be a stunt though? Like it's Madonna, I'm sure if it was going to be a stunt it would be something a little more imaginative than leaking your own album. Especially when she is so vocal against music leaking.
Having said that, it is strange that Beyonce did everything she did last year and not a single thing leaked, yet Madonna's team can't keep things under wrap. |

I don't think it's a stunt. She's always been very protective of her music. Over her entire career I can think of only one instance where she has released an unfinished demo officially (Let Down Your Guard in 1994). She doesn't even release b-sides as a rule. Over a 30 year career practically every track she ever released officially was on a studio album.
It just seems a bit too much to believe that she would suddenly go ahead an release a whole bunch of demos in one go. |

Especially as half the idiots who download it don't have the brain cells to know the difference between a demo and finished product. The worst part of it is that due to Internet and p2p sharing the music industry is being crippled. Especially album sales. The more this happens artists are not going to bother putting the time or effort into making any new music as they wont make any money from it. I really hope the culprit is caught and given a prison sentence. |

Most album "leaks" are done by the label anyway, so this would be no different.
Taylor Swift and Beyonce have proven that new music can be kept off the internet with a bit of effort, so i'd certainly say any leak was deliberate. |

The thing is though, this music is not poor quality demos. The music content is poor quality (let's face it, Madonna just isn't what she was BUT she doesn't need to be, she has a huge legacy).
The songs are not rough edits, poor quality or choppy. |

Demos to me does not mean poor quality of sound. To me, demos is when artists experiment with arrangements. The final versions may have different arrangements because artists want to try different sounds. There is a lot of guitar on these songs, which is kind of unusual for her. I have a feeling the final versions will have less guitar.

I know most of her discography (albums wise, not unreleased etc, im not a huge fan) but I don't think this album is on par with her work from 10-15 years ago. Maybe it's a sign of the times, I don't know.
It all kinda became limited with the release of 'hard candy' imo Hard Candy was a lazy attempt and piggybacking on the whole Timbaland sound, and consequently left her with an album which sounded dated by the time it hit the shelves. MDNA had some very good tracks, but was just a bit of a mess. I always get the feeling she wasn't really interested in that campaign. She just stuck it out as an excuse to go on tour. (I think that's actually a fact mind, she did release it just to go on tour!) ![]() IMO Hard Candy is definitely her weakest though. Even Bedtime Stories (her other lame offering) has the mighty Sanctuary/Bedtime Story to save it. |

Did you really need to start a separate thread?

Her last good album was Confessions (Sorry remains one of the best pop songs of the decade IMO), but her last truly great album was American Life. That to me is what a Madonna album should be. Nothing like anything else.

I enjoy American Life, but to me there's something very un-Madonna about it if you look at her whole catalogue. Most of her stuff is more in the vein of pop/dance rather than the more singer songwriter acoustic stuff that's on AL. I also don't think it's quite right to say AL was nothing like anything else anyone ever did. Other people had done acoustic mixed with electronics before like for example Beth Orton.

I do agree with you there. I remember her being criticised at the time for trying to be like Jewel. American Life is by far my least favourite album of hers, despite the fact it has Hollywood..one of my most played Madonna songs ever.

"Madonna has reportedly become 'paranoid' after discovering her computer and phones have been hacked for 'more than a decade' and is scared that an insider is responsible.
According to the Daily Mirror, the singer is concerned that a member of her team has joined forces with the thief in a bid to cause damage to her brand. The hacker has been accessing personal photos and unreleased music and selling them illegally and the singer is said to have Skyped a trader for 30 minutes in a bid to uncover the truth."
