Just listened to Bens single on iTunes and I nearly didn't recognise the voice. Why have they auto tuned it so much? It doesn't even sound like Ben anymore, more like one of westlifes songs!

Because his voice is just not that good - too shouty and screechy

Presumably, it's autotuned because that's the 'in thing' now. They autotune everything to buggery.

Because his voice is quite rocky so to cross over to pop mainstream they autotune it to sound less harsh

Spot on, rock music isn't popular in the singles chart's anymore and they weren't taking any chances, I'm guessing.

Cos Syco wanted a pop star and hes sounding too rock for their liking. ....hence the push for Fleur to win!!!!

If the single is auto tuned, God help the rest of the album. ...with Syco behind it Ben doesn't stand a chance here! !!!

Yes, you have to have a particular sound these days, music has changed so much, I very much doubt ben will be able to do a full on original rock album which is a shame because he does that well.

More to the point, why have they changed the lyrics from "die" to "live"?

Rock music? Seriously? Surely rock music is about guitars, drums and bass. Not about a style of singing. How would Ben do a "full on rock album"? What's he gonna do? Join Van Halen or something?

Because the charity the song is supporting is for terminally ill children and it probably wasn't seen as appropriate.

Yeah pretty much this, I think we should let the lyrics change if its for this reason.

Chaning "Many Of Horror" to "When We Collide" however because they can't have a winners single with the word "Horror" in it...is beyond stupidity.

I don't think that was an aversion to the word 'horror', it was more that they wanted to avoid thick people being confused at why the song was called Many of Horror when it sounds like it SHOULD be called When We Collide.

They really butchered that Biffy song.

I kind of agree. When We Collide does seem like a better song title suited but its a quirk over certain songs when the title of the song is scarcely mentioned. Usually suggests that the actual title of the song has a meaning to the person who wrote it.

Like Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. If you listen to the song it makes more sense to be called "If I Lay Here". The singer Gary Lightbody has admitted though the name of the song came from something his dad used to say to him when he was quite young in regards to him "Chasing Ladies"...which was supposedly "You Chasing Ladies is like a Dog Chasing Cars...You Wouldn't Know What To Do If You Caught It"

I like when song titles have their own meanings

Why are the X factor winner singles all covers of reasonable songs with that horrid SAW like prefabrication feel?

Lauren and Andrea are the only ones who wouldn't have needed auto tune

All Syco acts have that prefabrication feel, Simon makes out like he's some music mogul when in fact he only knows one music and it's manufactured!

I thought the same. They've edited out all that rock gravel type tone in his voice. If they decided it was best he didn't sing that way then why didn't they tell him on the show?

Jesus Christ, what has this even got to do with Fleur?! :/ People just don't like the song, it's not becsuse Fleur didn't win.

Anyway, yes the song is TERRIBLE. Well, rather Ben's version is terrible. The original is amazing but Ben is no Ryan Tedder. The studio version strips him of any grit (which is basically what made him about as unique as he'd ever get) or anything like that and just makes him sound dull and strained even on record!

I didn't like him, but as he didn't perform or anything he must have won for his voice (well, probably his looks and Everyman persona but lets not open that can of worms) so it's baffling they change his voice so much on record. It sounds like it could be absolutely anyone.

I have to agree. I like Ben, but it's just thoroughly bad. Simply terrible production on the record. Such a flat uninspired arrangement of the song. To be honest I really think it was a bad choice as a winner's single. I'd have thought they would have accentuated his voice, instead they made him as generic as possible.
