What is the point...
Of the whole process if everything seems to be totally disregarded when you get to the interview stage

There isn't really a point to be honest.
I suppose to prove to Lord Sugar that they have all the necessary skills he is looking for in his business partner? Someone could have the best business plan in the world but if the person who made it is lacking in business sense, they will fail. The tasks themselves are BS though, all of them are very controlled (or seem to be anyway) so it doesn't really take initiative to compete in them really. |

I was thinking this during the episode, it felt like everything had been reset and everyone has a clean slate.
It's like the series is divided into two separate categories - the tasks and the interviews/final. I think the tasks are just done for the entertainment of the viewers now. |

There was a thread created on this forum last week entitled 'What was the point in having Katie on the show then?' well the exact same could be said for Roisin who was one of the best candidate this series. So what was the point of having Roisin on the show then?
I'm guessing the business plans don't get looked at properly by Alan Sugar until the last week or two? |

It's more likely than not that that is the actual case, but there is probably a tacit agreement that the production team do need to put forward at least a couple of plausible plans and candidates to go with them, else I'm not sure Sugar would do the show. |

I'm guessing the business plans don't get looked at properly by Alan Sugar until the last week or two? I don't think he needs to see the final plan for most people. You just have to look for things like catering in the proposal title - which will either be on a much too big a scale, or too small a scale for him. Or you look for people doing things they are not experienced in , or want to expand to a much bigger scale than they do it now. You also reject anything that offers relatively low returns . He can also spot specifics in the CVs - which he does have - like the fact that Tom had patented a nail file and taken it nearly to market, or Leah had a good medical degree and had passed the specific training needed. |

I just cannot believe LS only sees the fuller plans near the end of the process. If that were the case, he could inadvertently sack someone with a brilliant plan in a 'marginal' week. The uncomfortable conclusion to derive from that, however, is that the show basically strung Solomon and Rosin along for a significant period of time before essentially telling them they were no-hopers from day one.
Whatever the facts, the show is fundamentally broken as a concept. I really do believe the scrutiny of the business plans needs to start earlier... As I said last night, why not have some preliminary episodes dragons den style so the ones who go through to the tasks at least have a plan that could work, rather than being complete no-hopers for whom the whole process is really a waste of their time. |

Someone can have the best idea in the world that would make billions, but if that person is a complete fool, nob and obnoxious rude so an so who also had no idea about how buisness worked, then of course that person will be fired. Ideas can be stolen and copied .
