I think Pixie Caroline Jake or Simon would have been the most fun.

Simon's better than Jake but Jake's more of a performer.

No matter how lacklustre Mark's rumba looked it won't make Pixie's, Thom's or Jake's cha cha look any better. The basic principle of raising your hips to have your straightened leg under you instead of way out In front of you is too major a thing to allow to be ignored. Looking at Thom's cha cha without knowing what it was meant to be I'd struggle to tell. Mark got the rumba steps right but just didn't look particularly brilliant. I don't know why so much importance is placed on the cha cha but it certainly goes back decades to when I was learning (and probably not much later than when the dance came here!).. I'm not picking any favourite out of the finalists but yes, Mark's cha cha was good enough to pass as recognisable. Pixie's cha cha reminded me of Ali Bation's. On first seeing it I just saw her hips and thought she did well. The judges slated her and when I looked again at her leg work it was all wrong. Her New York steps were done with bended knees and it got bad marks.

Same here. I started off very engaged but as it's gone on with it's oh-so-desperate-and-earnest celebs; poorly executed 'themes'; dances merged into party latin or it-must-be-ballroom-she's-in-a-long-dress or barefoot arseing about, and spot the celeb among the backing dancers, I've got less and less interested.
Spot on. I really wish Jason Gilkison would find some other show to occupy him next year.

Re the BIB, the celebs I find most interesting are usually the ones who get into it and have fun, but who don't act like their world will end if they go out. Usually the ones who don't really need it for their career etc. Unfortunately they are sometimes not the best dancers so don't last very long, but that's one of the reasons why I liked Jake.

Is that you Len!?

I think I'd quite like the sodding cha cha cha dropped next year, its pretty much killed the excitement in this series.

Yeah chachacha has always been naff for the celebs. I would also drop the samba which doesn't look good even when the pros do it.

I think Pixie there would have made it closer to call, I think Jake there may have given us a good show dance and I do think he is better inflation than Mark.

Thom would be interesting, would he ever have come out of his shell I don't know? But Iveta would have given us a hip hop show dance no doubt
Certainly think that, as I said before, that jake and pixie would have made the final more competitive and bought a couple of 'showstoppers' to the table. Thom I expected to go further, he should have. Frankie has achieved her main aim IMO...to reach the final....
caroline has maybe done better than originally expected..... but then I remember how she kicked off the whole series in week 1 dance 1, got 7's if I remember for a cha cha cha , and my mom saying 'she's danced before'.......she was not wrong!!

Simon, Thom, Frankie and Jake were my four favourites from the start and if they were all in the final I'd be a nervous wreck so, in a way, I'm pleased that only two of them are there

No. Thom, Jake and Pixie all got the basics of a cha cha wrong so they would never compare to the actual finalists. No amount of frills and novelties can make up for getting the basics wrong.
Weren't you in 'Return of the Saint'?

return? I never left. And ok, I'm maybe not too much younger than Len but every day counts.
I still remember a dance teacher, Camp Bernaaaaard, telling me how to get the cha cha right. He said "lift your backside like you are hitching a lift home". Some things never leave you.

I don't know about Thom but Pixie and Jake would have added colour to what promises to be a very beige final.
Agree. Len's decisions on Pixie and Jake were close calls but not awful ones. A Pixie, Caroline,Frankie,Jake final would have entertained viewers the most. As for Thom, I think he could have become at least as good as Mark. It will be interesting to see how he does on the tour, then we will know how robbed he and Iveta were, if at all. The final should be OK, but could have been better.

I wasn't a fan of Pixie but I do feel the final is lacking the excitement she and Jake would have brought to proceedings. With Jake it feels odd that the producers decided to get rid of the person with the most anticipated showdance in favour of someone the viewers had repeatedly placed in the dance-off. I can honestly say I am not excited about any of the showdances tomorrow. This has to be the blandest, least anticipated, least divisive final in Strictly history. Look how dead this forum is! Normally there are entrenched fan warz by now. I'm actually looking back with fondness at the year of Matt vs Kara and missing some of the personal abuse I received because I didn't get the excitement over Kara. Aah, those were the days!

But better you think to have a final of losers
Every respected commentator on here agrees they lost out due to poor performance
Why not encourage those who made this final

Can't waste the energy on what ifs. Those in the final are those in the final. No amount of what ifs will change that. Don't want angst and misery to mar what we'll be watching. What's gone is gone. Time goes forward.

I shall watch the final with the four that are in it and enjoy it. I'll be happy with whoever the public vote as the winner.
But in a Saturday night entertainment show the producers need to engage and excite the viewers, not have viewers who feel resigned and dispassionate about proceedings. It feels very bizarre to me that occasionally in past series but especially in this series the producers have chosen to jettison the more ratings-grabbing contestants in favour of the most bland contestants. It's a very strange agenda when ratings are meant to be all important.

The producers get to make the creative decisions, they decide the leaderboard and then they decide the dance-off. Someone can be a 'loser' on Strictly because the situation has totally been engineered by the producers and not by the public. Can we honestly say the public wanted Lisa Snowdon in the final and not Austin? Did they want Mark and not Jake? Jake's position on the leaderboard last week, with no ties above him, meant that he could have been high in the public vote and still in the dance-off.

People can talk about the technical side of things all day long, but Jake not being in the final means less anticipation for me and to a lot of people.

Pixie on the other hand is on the opposite side of Jake, she was the best dancer and she was eliminated, the tour being the main factor.

Don't kid yourselves, even if you don't like Jake and/or Pixie, their absence in the final goes against the excitement of the whole thing.

I hope most people agree with Whomever Strictly chose to win this season.

My ideal final would be Jake, Simon, Mark and Caroline. But I can live with having 3 of them in it. I agree with those who said Jake made a performance great even if he wasn't as technically good as others, but this is the way the cookie crumbles.

Pixie, Caroline, Frankie and Simon for me.
I think that would have been best in terms of quality, it's just absurd that Pixie didnt make the final.
I would perhaps substitute Jake in place of Simon for the surprise factor. Jake was someone who could fail dismally or succeed spectacularly..but he was never boring.

Lisa produced a truly magical waltz and foxtrot and as For Jake his ballroom skills never matched the other contestants
Pixie went following a one off awful dance but this is a contest not a debate
We all know the SCD rules and in accordance we now have IMO the correct final

Question:
If Thom had been fat,old and plain-looking would anybody even be mentioning him now?

In my madder moments I think how good it would be to have another program in addition to SCD - Strictly Dancing - The Second Coming, where a select few from the ones who didn't make it to the final get another chance (with another partner). Harsher folk than me might say that the contestants have had two chances anyway but it could be shown in the weeks in between series of SCD. Then we could have dancing 52 weeks of the year.
There is the tour and ITT in addition to SCD so what's wrong with another spin off?

Thom also had good posture, not surprising since he was a model. The lack of good posture was the thing that probably sent Jake home.

Neither Pixie or Ali got bad marks for their cha cha's
