Do you think he needs to work on his fricatives and stops?

When Tess greets them after their dance, with some bland comment like, "you enjoyed that", or, "that was great", I am sitting at home shouting "shut up, don't say anything", but he always launches into a diatribe.

I am amazed the producers haven't told him not to.

I think he gets inebriated with the exuberance of his own verbosity

It was quite funny on ITT last night, Zoe asked him something about how he felt about the experience etc and off he went, she was trying in vain to stop him

I don't mind it really, well I wouldn't quite so much if he'd think of something different to say. Though that might mean asking him different questions, which means paying the scriptwriters a bonus

I just love him. This is the first time I have ever been involved with a forum for Strictly. Merely watched and waited to see who won. But with Mark I actually care who wins. Unlike Caroline or Frankie who dance because they can and have done since they were born, Mark and Simon to a lessor extent, dance with their hearts and every fibre of their being. I look forward every week to seeing Marks progress and seeing them on the dancefloor proves to me how if one wants something badly enough, with hard work one can achieve anything. When I see rude remarks I get upset but I do not want to get involved in slinging matches, so I will wait until Saturday and then we will see.

What will you do if he wins? Gloat? Thumb your nose and go "Na na nana na"

And aren't you overlooking that the SCD ringers would have at some point started from scratch themselves and if they're now any good must have become good through hard work and wanting it badly

I also find him funny, last night was hilarious and the way he takes in a huge breath before he starts his speeches just cracks me up 😃

It would be a blessing if he lost his voice for the finals, but he'll always have his tears.

No I would not gloat. But I would be happy for Mark and Karen and their families. I never hate anyone. It is afterall a television show.

I know people think he's insincere because he's a TOWIE guy, but I do just genuinely think he's that enthusiastic that sometimes he gets carried away and goes on (& on & on) a wee bit.

Karen might want to give him a nudge in the ribs when he goes off on one sometimes though - it is live TV afterall. Lol

We're having a Strictly drinking game on Saturday night, and these oft-repeated gems from Mark will have me racing for my glass:

'I've exceeded all my expectations.'
'If you'd have told me at the beginning that I'd get to the final....'
'I NEVER thought I'd get this far.'
'I started out as a complete novice/beginner.'
'I'm not a natural dancer.'
'I'm surrounded by all these talented dancers...'
'I'm having the time of my life.'
Various references to nans, Michelle, sisters etc....

I swear, he says the same things over and over again. In one Strictly weekend, he said he was a complete novice three times!!! If they give him enough airtime, we're going to be legless without even thanking into account all the drinking-prompts we're planning for Tess, the judges etc.

I am not Marks biggest fan let's be honest these phrases come in a guide book the celebs get given when they sign the contract to do SCD. Under the heading of 'ways to promote yourself in interviews during the competition'.

EVERY celeb has used these phrases or variations of them over the years. It's part of the 'fun' of watching each year. See who can use as many cliches as possible.

It's not the worst thing ANY celeb can do.

Me too. Would love him to come to my village and get the cold/laryngitis that is going around. He really does annoy me. . .especially when I saw the picture used on his magnet.

He certainly does. He and his dance partner Karen also put on the tears whenever they think it necessary. Really wish he would shut up!

I mute the TV when his dance ends. I may have missed some golden nuggets of wisdom from him but that's a chance I'm prepared to take

Of course it's not the worst thing, but in all the years I've been watching Strictly, I genuinely have never heard any celeb repeat these same stock phrases over and over, at any given opportunity, like Mark does. He says it on the main show, the results show, the VT's, and on ITT. I know he has done guest appearances on radio shows - I didn't listen but would hazard a guess the same things were said! Please someone correct me if I'm wrong on that though.
Like others have said on the forum, it's like a Party Political Broadcast for the Humble Party

Mark, bless him, is the purest manifestation of the onward march of the professional reality show contestant - he has no other talent, so his insistent promotion of himself as a novice and an underdog is his schtick - and ,in as much as it's that (surely not his unmemorable dancing) which has propelled him through to the final, so what's the problem?

Maybe next year's "Mark"'s VT will show him/her getting his/her pro partner to parrot journeybollox phrases and cliches, practice tearing up etc, as it probably takes just as much, if not more, time and effort than learning the dance routines.
